There was a crowd of people a bit further down the straight. If a tire blows and the car turns a bit and decides to leave without the driver there might be a drama.

Great burnout, especially enjoyed the drift around the trophy (even if it took two attempts :-D) -- I think the only thing he hasn't done is figure out how to actually 'skid' his signature on the road. Maybe next year!
And on the rule, thing... I recall Ingall got in a fair bit of trouble for hanging out of the rolling car back in '05, and Gizzy also inspired rule changes at the Gold Coast after he did a similar stationary burnout a few years back (that was for the burnout, nothing safety related on that day). We'll see if stewards reports punish SVG for his burnout today!

Did they bring in a new rule that weekend at Eastern Creek/SMP where he was putting his wheels onto the grass along the front straight to cool them off?
I don't think that it specifically resulted in a rule change (at least, I can't find one in the manual) but I believe it may have been a note for the driver's briefings - something to the effect of "if anyone does this, it could be grounds for careless or reckless driving." It would be a situation that would be complicated to enforce as a lot of it could be very subjective on the part of the officials and stewards.
On that line, I want to say it was Courtney (I may be wrong, someone definitely did it) that caused the "track is declared wet" process, because running at the back of the field after a bad day they fitted wet tires on a dry track in order to save their slicks for the next day.
