I've been gaming on Linux for several months now without much issue, but overnight all games that use proton have stopped launching. I was playing ME3 last night with no issue, went to bed, woke up, and nothing worked.

I am on Fedora 43 using the steam package from the repository (not the flatpak).

Symptoms:

  • Every proton game that I've tried is affected
  • Games with native linux clients work fine, unless forced to use proton
  • Some games will just say "launching" forever, some will say that they're running, but never actually start.
  • Downloading an affected game ends with "finishing" forever
  • This appears to affect every version of proton
  • This happened after attempting to stream to

I recently got my hands on a Sapphire RX 6800XT, and added it to my gaming PC. Initially it went pretty smooth. Then, a few days later my computer shuts off while playing Divinity 2. No bluescreen, just off. As if someone pulled the plug. Now, I had a 9 year old 750w PSU, so I figured that the new card was spiking and overloading the PSU, and it was time to upgrade. So I got a seasonic focus PX-850. In the time it took that to arrive, I encountered the problem in Deep Rock Galactic and Assetto Corsa Competizione as well.

Once that was installed it it seemed fine. I bought a VR headset around the same time and went to try it out with ACC. Within 15 minutes the computer shutdown on me again.

I've been running my ACC servers on linux since I started hosting them. Normally, wine handles the servers just fine. There are a few quirks, but it mostly just runs. I prefer this because I can run them in containers, and creating a new one is a very quick and easy because I can just clone one of the existing containers. Also I can run a linux container hosting an ACC server with like 200MB of ram.

However, since the update for the dedicated server, it hasn't been working properly. The server "runs", but anytime someone leaves the server, they never get timed out like they should. The log is filed with messages like these. Every driver that leaves a serve

I installed proxmox about 6 months ago, and it's been happily chugging along ever since. However, recently the web GUI stopped working on every computer except for on chrome on my desktop at home. If I'm at work, neither firefox or chrome work. IE does work, but noVNC doesn't work on IE (and also IE is gross). Edge seems to work as well (but also gross).

If I "refresh" firefox, it seems to work intermittently. The error I get on firefox is this: https://i.imgur.com/HhymfZP.png

On chrome, it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/3sNuGII.png

This isn't the first time I've run into this problem. My previous installs of proxmox have had the same issue. Googleing the problem seems to point to i

Earlier this week, I was suddenly unable to access my proxmox gui on every system and browser I've tried except chrome on one particular computer. If I try to use a different browser on that same computer, it is unable to connect.

It doesn't matter if the computer is on the network or not. I can't even connect via a VM on the machine it's trying to connect to. I've tried using my external domain name, or just using IP:8006. No matter what I try, I just get the same "Unable to connect" error.

It just seemed to happen out of the blue, and I can't figure out why. Does anyone have any insight into what might be happening?

I was trying to change the heatsink on one of my computers. Long story short, a very small amount of thermal paste got onto the pins. I (very carefully) cleaned the paste out of the pins with a new toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. The computer runs, but it's throwing an error at boot.

After it finishes booting, anything that has to do with a particular sata HDD is very slow. The computer boots from an M.2 SSD, and has a secondary sata HDD. This drive was running just fine before this happened. I tried changing sata ports with no change.

Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this, or what's even causing the problem?
