I (36F) was pretty inexperienced before meeting my husband (43M). From early on in our relationship, he finishes in my face every time we are intimate. I thought this was normal but my friend was shocked. Is this really that abnormal or freaky? Does it mean he doesn’t respect me?

I’m asking because we started dating when I was underage and my friend accused him of grooming me. He has started being physically abusive and now I’m realizing he was also emotionally abusive (insults, gaslighting) and sexually abusive (coercing, forcing). I’m wondering if this is another sign.

For those of you who missed it, she starred in a movie about domestic violence and has been marketing it like a fun romcom and downplaying the domestic violence.

She said “grab your friends, wear your florals, and head out to see it!“ She used the movie to promote a new hair care line and her booze brand with drink names like “it ends with buzz”.

Someone asked her how she would respond to a dv victim or survivor who was impacted by her film, and she had a rude, dismissive and truly disgusting response.

There’s a lot more I’m missing here but basically she has been insensitive, tone deaf and seems to have a complete lack of concern for domestic violence victims and survivors.

What should you put in a go bag?

I Want to Leave, But I am Afraid

Should it be looked at like if I left this is everything that’s irreplaceable to me and I need to take, mementos and stuff. Or more like packing for a trip with clothing and toiletries? Or more like if I had to survive on the streets for a few days with survival gear?

If the day comes I have no idea if I’ll be ever able to come back home, if there will be room in a shelter, of my friends will be reliable, if I’ll have $ or credit cards for a hotel…

When did you know it was time to leave?

TW Question Physical Abuse

My first abusive relationship I stayed far longer than I should have. I got an offer to move across the country and took it, otherwise I probably would have stayed until he killed me.

Now I’m in a relationship that I’m just realizing is abusive. It wasn’t easy to spot. He’s not controlling, jealous or possessive like my last relationship. He’s constantly criticizing and gaslighting me, and started getting physically violent recently. But it wasn’t that bad compared to my last relationship. He’ll hit me once, not beat the shit out of me.

My barometer of acceptable behaviour in a relationship is fucked up and I don’t know what’s normal anymore. I don’t know what a healthy relationship look

My husband hit me for the first time. We just got married 2 months ago. We got in a heated argument because I agreed with his mom over him about something. He hit me again about a week later but not as hard as the first time.

All of my friends that I’ve confided in who know us both, but are only my friends, are telling me to try counselling and to stay with him. When I mention it on Reddit, everyone is telling me to leave him.

I love him, he’s my soul mate, I can’t imagine my life without him. I don’t want to leave him. But why is there such a difference between online people and real life friends?

I’m looking for someone to review a post nup agreement. Ideally someone who is not too aggressive and will keep it amicable, short and sweet, but still protect my interests. I was recommended MacLean’s but someone told me they are sharks and mainly used for contentious divorces.

Should I be wary of lawyer recommended by MIL?

:22px-Flag_of_British_Col:British Columbia

My MIL wants me to sign a post nup agreement. She recommended a lawyer who is in his 80s and retired, and is pushing me to go to him. I’m paying for it anyway, and would rather someone younger who is still actively practicing law. Should I be wary of hiring a retired lawyer that is friends with her husband?

My MIL is a short lady with a small/average size body, about 5”1 and 120 lbs. For as long as I have known her, she has been obsessed with her weight. Every time I see her she tells me how much she weighs always followed by something like “I’m up 0.7 lbs because I had a piece of cake last night”. I’ve tried to explain water weight and food weight to her but it doesn’t compute.

She has made comments about my body frequently in the past until I finally got the courage to tell her to stop. I’m about 5”5 130 lbs and like most people my weight fluctuates about 5-10 lbs. she would point it out every single time she could tell I lost or gained a few pounds. So she has stopped that, but now every ti
