Basically the title, a few weeks ago I had a horrible breakdown over scrupulosity and despite crying out for God I received nothing but silence. As such I have really been struggling with the faith recently to the point I’m debating whether or not I’ll go to mass tomorrow. Can someone offer me an argument against the problem of evil other than “God lets bad things happen so a greater good can occur” because right now that feels like a giant cope. Please help, I don’t want to lose my faith but right now it seems like God either hates me or he doesn’t exist.

Post warning for those who are struggling with their faith, don’t read ahead.

This is something of a sequel to my last post and as the title says I’m wondering why I should even want to follow God. If God causes/allows me to be filled with anxiety all the time for following him why should I even desire to be with him? If someone beat you up everyday or allowed somebody to beat you up everyday that they could stop without causing any trouble for themselves and then told you after your beating that they love you would you want to spend time with them? Probably not, so in the same sense why should I even want a relationship with God? On the off chance he’s not real why not blow my brains out

(19M) To start off there are a lot of things I love about the Church, the people, the aesthetics, my faith has freed me from addiction and has made me a legitimately better person. But I can’t take it anymore, I get a ton of anxiety from confession and sins in general that I spend every day being worried about and most recently that has latched onto me playing video games stressing out about the sinfulness of different games and now I feel as though I need to get rid of the majority of the games (and tv shows, movies, etc) that I engage with or else I will be sinning (and sometimes mortally) and even though I still genuinely believe Christ rose from the dead and that he’s God I am at a point

This was originally posted to r/askapriest but got taken down, so I’d really appreciate the advice of a priest here. Thank you

Hi Father’s, first off I know these may technically be against the rules of the subreddit so I apologize but I’m really struggling here and my own priest although helpful isn’t always available and sometimes leaves me more confused.

So my first question is in relation to contrition for venial sins, from what I’ve read it’s not necessary to have full contrition for them to be forgiven in confession, but I’m unaware if that extends to people who plan on continuing to commit a certain venal sin.

The next question is about the sinfulness of sharing entertainment whic

I cannot help but feel that since I was born life has been one long decline. Perhaps it’s just nostalgia but I feel as though each year things get a little worse. I miss the days when I was an innocent child in a cozy home with parents who loved me. Sometime when I was 11 or so I was introduced to pornography which has left me brutally scarred and which I fear I will never recover from. My father had an affair and left when I was 14 and for a few years after that my mom was quite abusive, taking out her anger on me. Now I’m out of Highschool, going into university soon and I just feel so lost. I have a good group of friends but we only ever see each other maybe once a month, otherwise we jus

I need to know if not speaking with him is in violation of the fourth commandment. For context, my father left when I was 14. He had been cheating on my mother for some time, she found out and told him she would forgive him and go forward if he could stay around while I was back home for two weeks (I had been at school abroad) and if I remember correctly he left and didn’t come home on the second night I was there. Over the past few years my father has messaged me a few times asking to see me and other things, but has never apologized for what he did to me, my brother and my mother. Neither of my parents are Catholic and I am 18 years old. Someone please advise me on what I should do, thanks

Seems like the obvious answer would be yes but I’m interested in what you guys think. I’m not doing much for the next little while so daily church should be a fairly easy thing for me to do. Has anyone here done it before and could give me there thoughts on it? Thanks.
