I got hit up by salespeople from Ambia Energy yesterday and today, running the same misleading sales scheme detailed in this press release from the Minnesota AG's office.

They showed me a fraudulent PSE rate schedule showing a ~5x rate increase from 7-10am and 5-8pm, then promised they'd replace my roof as part of a tax incentive plan where I'd get 42% of the total construction cost back on my tax return. They even said that the federal tax incentives would replace my circuit box, which they incorrectly claimed wasn't up to code.

The actual incentive is 30% of the solar install cost and roof repairs, not replacemen

Last week I had a local shop convert my '03 C4S 6-speed to rear wheel drive. The front axles needed to be replaced, and I'd always wanted to try the car in RWD, so this was a good enough reason to pull the trigger. They pulled the front axles, the drive shaft, and the front diff, and installed the Rennline RWD Conversion Spindles so that I could maintain ABS and PSM functionality.

Since then I've driven it about 300 miles on highways, backroads, and in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and figured someone here might want to hear my initial impressions.

The highlights:

  • The parasitic loss from the front end of the driveline was much higher than I had expected. It's faster off the line, it rolls

There's a lively thread in my local subreddit regarding whether or not Walmart can have you trespassed from their property for declining their request to review your receipt and purchased items as you leave the store. I'm an infrequent customer, but am interested in the potential consequences. Doubly so because the thread's OP stated that a sheriff's deputy got involved and stated something to the effect that declining the request was cause for suspicion. That seems like an intentionally ambiguous, but ultimately meaningless phrase, but as someone who's not interested in wasting my time with security theater it seems like something worth getting clarification on from you all.

I know that Co

I recently moved back to the area after 8 years elsewhere, and am wondering how folks out here are preparing for earthquakes. The Kitsap Dept. of Emergency Management states that we might be on our own for "a month or more" in the event of a major earthquake, and having been a Boy Scout some 20+ years ago I have been fighting the urge to drop a bunch of money on drinking water storage and dehydrated food, along with some gas for my chainsaw and cars. I'm already pretty well covered on the first aid front.

Do you all have a plan and supplies? If so, is there a way to store 60+ gallons of water (1 gallon per person per day for a month) and 120,000+

I work on a large (100M+ installs) application and am hoping that someone here can provide ballpark figured on what percentage of illegitimate users should be expected to convert to legitimate subscribers if we could magically harden our APK to the point that hacking it wasn't worth the effort.

Ideally I'd like to make a business case to management to pay for a service like DexGuard or DexProtector, but without any data regarding anticipated conversion rates it's hard to justify the cost. We've already tried Play Integrity with no luck. There's some other stuff being done as well, but nothing I want to get into here.

TLDR: If we had a magic wand and could get rid of our hacked APK problem

I'm in the process of buying a motorcycle from a good friend of mine, and have a question that someone here hopefully has the answer to.

He has lost the title to the bike, so he submitted the lost title paperwork with the state. The backlog for that process, we've been told, can be up to two months. Naturally I'd prefer not to miss that much of our limited riding season if it can be helped.

I am wondering if we can both show up to a DOL office and complete the transaction there without waiting for the lost title process to conclude? Does anyone have experience with something like this?

I just wanted to offer a genuine thank you to everyone who spent time helping me try to find a cyber security position as a new grad. Unfortunately, it was all for not.

I graduated from a reputable school last June with a BS in Computer Science & Cybersecurity with a respectable GPA, in a tech hub, with multiple projects. I spent 9 months submitting over a hundred applications to any and every entry level security position up and down the West coast, with most paying $60-75k, with not so much as a phone screen. I received rejection emails from <5% of the companies to which I applied. And yes, I leveraged my network wherever possible.

I finally broke down, applied for a position as
