Desperate for help with cog pem and light/sound sensitivity. I heard insomnia is a side effect. Starting with 60mg + NADH in morning. Will it make insomnia worse?

Last two nights - 1-2 hours sleep each. Night one - usual gravol didn't work. Night 2 - tried 3mg Melatonin first time - didn't work, and bad PEM symptoms all night. Felt awful. Woke up - period started. Had just gotten control of rolling cofnitive PEM a few days ago, physical PEM for a few weeks. don't think i screwed up.
First mega crash - last period. Two ambulance trips. Extreme symptoms. Thought I was literally dying. Wanted to.
Can period ALONE cause PEM?
PS. can't stop periods using hormones due to migraines and EDS 😭😭😭
Needing some hope and sense of control today
To occupy your brain during radical rest.
I have been coming up with an A-Z example for different categories, like Scattergories but the whole alphabet for one category. But I've done so many dozens this week it's getting old.
I thought up the names of about 80 of the 90 elementary school classmates I had. Haven't seen in 20 years and wasn't even friends with them to begin with 😅
Walk through old stomping grounds in my mind. Try to go slow and remember the details. But I have moderate aphantasia and I'm horrible with visual spatial reasoning so it's not that fun 😅
But I need new ideas. I've never been one to live in my imagination and hated imaginative play growing up. I'm sure not wri
If I only have daily headaches in the forehead and eyes with light sensitivity that comes and goes, is that PEM, or a new baseline?
What if they sometimes have severe brain fog and sound sensitivity, too? Are both PEM, or just the second?
I'm not experiencing the physical symptoms anymore as long as I stay in bed and only get up to go the the bathroom and don't shower.
Marked NSFW because it's kinda TMI lol
I always thought it meant it's more comfortable to pass gas out than in. Because, you know, when you yawn too hard and air goes in and makes a burp sound on the way in. Or you are exercising or whatever and your bumhole (or something else, for us ladies) ... takes a deep breath in.
My husband informed me last night that not only does the phrase mean "the air is more comfortable outside of your body than inside of your body" NOT "it's uncomfortable on the way in", but also, apparently this is not a normal phenomenon.
Autism, meet hEDS 😅
WAS IT REALLY JUST ME WHO THOUGHT THIS !?!?!
I also have hEDS, POTS, dysautonomia, AuDHD, etc if that matters/anyone can relate.
I'm considering a small weighted blanket or stuffie, migraine ice cap, towely bathrobe because I have severe temp dysregulation during/after a shower, shower stool, eye shades, popper or other fidget toys to keep my hands busy?
I have electrolytes, ice packs, electric heating pad, wearing prescription sunglasses inside, blackout curtain, ear plugs, bath wipes, stool at bathroom sink. that's the important part over if you want to skip to the bottom
My cognitive PEM is more distressing to me than my physical PEM right now and I shouldn't even be on here. I'm sometimes able to walk to the bathroom alone and
I can't stop screens and audio enough to stop rolling cognitive PEM! I'm bored out of my gourd. I can only do so many alphabet list games in my head, tour do many old places... I've gone through my head and listed 70/90 elementary classmates, none of which I've spoken to in 20 years... reading and writing is only somewhat better... I am gifted, autistic, ADHD, CPTSD, anxiety... my brain needs to think deeply about one thing while my body does another.
I am usually listening to a nerdy podcast while engaging in my special interest with my body, or if I am sitting down, I'm watching a show AND doing a sudoku or crossword... now my body self destructs if I listen to more than one podcast w
I'm seeing people talking about it related to other chronic conditions I have. Is it supposed to effect CFS? Is it even scientific?
Humming, gargling, singing etc are a struggle for me due to POTS and CCI - they cause lightheadedness and/or pain.
Pretty sure I wouldn't have this cursed disease (as well as a few others) if the first 30-odd traumatic years of my life hadn't nuked my nervous system ...
It's not fair, guys. Today I read that DINOSAUR fossils have been found with collagen that is still STRETCHY! Meanwhile, my collagen won't even hold my shoulders in when I pick up a sack of potatoes!
RAWRRRRR >:-[
Like, problematically so when getting palpated by a doctor or even when I'm having a good time with my husband 🫣😳 I've recently figured out just about every quirk I have is due to my hEDS or my autism. Anyone know of any links here? Something to do with our nervous systems?
I'm new to this, but my symptoms seem to be different in different PEMs/crashes and I'm wondering if it's based on emotional vs me tal vs physical exertion?
Aside from medications and supplements, what helps you with the whole-body, bone-deep pain?
I'm bedbound so my options are limited.
Which will flare me up worse? Cognitive overstimulation or emotional? I have other medical reasons why antidepressants etc aren't safe for me.
