Hi all,
I posted about 3 weeks ago with serious puppy blues from getting our (then 12 week, now nearly 15 week) greyhound puppy Azula. I got some kind and useful comments, and just wanted to update people.
Broadly, Azula is a great little puppy - significantly above average in terms of behaviour and eagerness to learn and do well, at least in my experience. We've gotten her onto a crate schedule, and she's now pretty much successfully housebroken (no accidents inside for over a week, and we've managed to train her to ask to be taken out for bathroom). She's learned basic commands (come, sit, down), and has definitely l
Hi all,
We picked up our 13 week greyhound puppy (Azula) on the 6th, and I'm honestly really struggling with the puppy blues. Sleep deprivation, constantly having to take her out in foul weather, accidents inside are all just making me so tired and frustrated. She's perfectly sweet natured and is actually being very well behaved for a puppy, but the idea of her not being here just fills me with a huge sense of relief.
I didn't expect to feel like this - my wife and I have both owned dogs and puppies before and don't remember it being anywhere near this hard. And, as I said, she's actually being very good - is learning her name and is doing well on the lead, and isn't really being destructi

So, to give a little context to this post, my wife has always been a huge Harry Potter fan. The films are on regularly in our house, and she has a whole shelf of one of our bookcases dedicated to her collector's edition of the books and various memorabilia. She also literally founded her university's Harry Potter society when she was there. I read the books growing up (I was in the generation where I was basically the same age as the characters), but would characterise myself as a distant admirer of them rather than a fan.
My wife also unfortunately suffers from a difficult history of mental health issues and a rather terrible family background. A few months ago some developments on that s
Hi all,
Broadly, what this post is about is looking for advice/literature/previous experience of a fairly unusual phenomenon I'm attempting to explain for the chemists on an ongoing med chem project.
Essentially, we have a series of compounds where forming a particular hydrogen bond via an acceptor is crucial for maintaining activity. The 2,4-pyrimidine acceptor is very active, while the 4-pyridine is 100x less active. I'm currently at a loss to explain this; the compounds dock identically (though there are some differences in the induced fit docking), and the pyridine group in a different series is a perfectly fine acceptor group. The 2-position N in the pyrimidine isn't forming any direc
