After last week's multilingual meeting, this week sing morbidly with the ancient

Anvils of the Heldenhammer

Some of the oldest of Sigmar's heroes, the Anvils of the Heldenhammer were created during a dark and sinister turn of the Broken World. The souls of the Anvils were collected from those already dead heroes laying in the Shyish underworlds. Nagash took great offense to this and Sigmar duly ignored him. The Anvils carry on some of the oldest and most archaic battle practices in the Mortal Realms, some of which were long thought to be lost. Lately, they have been on the frontlines of

Hi everybody,

Welcome to the latest AoSLore Book Club. Today we're discussing Hallowed Knights: Plague Garden. The first full novel in the Hallowed Knights series.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, I think at the time it was written it was pretty good but it does suffer from depicting the Stormcasts as almost unbeatable. There are still plenty of cool moments and character interactions. I especially liked those between Gardus Steel Soul and Sigmar himself. The moments we got with Lorrus Grymn and Tornus the Redeemed were really good as well as was the return of Gutrot Spume. The first chapters also stick out as being particularly good but the book starts to feel re

After last week's Realmstone ride, this week we read of the many

Languages of the Mortal Realms

The languages of the Mortal Realms are as wild and varied as the Mortal Realms themselves. The tongues of the Cities of Sigmar are by and large of Azyrite origins. Primarily used for trade and barter between merchants traveling vastly different areas. Meanwhile the Duardin of the Mortal Realms speak Khazalid as well as some humans of the Ironweld Arsenal. The forces of Chaos speak variations of the Dark Tongue. All of this is to say that there are many many languages of the Mortal Realms. They are used to explain

After last week's bestial brawl with the Beasts of the Mortal Realms, this week we find ourselves over a deposit of

Realmstone

Realmstone is a concentration of the raw magic of a realm and as such there is a unique realmstone for every Realm and the Eightpoints. The magic contained in each piece of individual Realmstone varies wildly with the only constant being how it empowers all magic and spells by the person using it. There have been plenty of powerful artifacts made out of realmstone as well. All of these properties lead to realmstone being a highly sought after commodity in the Mortal

Have any of you guys read anything about anyone in the Mortal Realms trying to get into the Aetheric Void or doing any exploration of that area?

It's just something I've been thinking about given all the guys who can fly in the Mortal Realms. Since there are so many I just wonder if any have gone up to see what it's like beyond it.

After last week's dance around the fire with the Untamed Beasts, this week we capture and understand the (regular)

Beasts of the Mortal Realms

Now let's define beasts. Beasts are non-sapient (for the most part) creatures native to the mortal realms. So this discounts Daemons and the Beasts of Chaos for they have (some) sapience. These beasts also come in many varieties from the monstrous flying Meglofin to the humble scouting Gryph-Hound. The beasts of the mortal realms are often both more magnificent and malicious than the those that inhabit our world as years of chaotic corruption, war, and the sp

After last week's shockingly spinning discussion in the Spiral Crux, this week we turn to the

Untamed Beasts

The Untamed Beasts are a nomadic tribe from the Realm of (you guessed it) Beasts who believe in Chaos in the form of the Devourer of Existence. They believe that all forms of civilization are against what their god is. In turn, they see Archaon as the Eater of Worlds, an avatar of the Devourer of Existence. They have come all the way from their home in the Jagged Savannah to the Bloodwind Spoil to prove their worth to Archaon and join him in what they think is his eternal hunt. Armed with weapons of

After last week's swing through the Everspring Swathe, this week we spin around the

Spiral Crux

The Spiral Crux is a region of Chamon. Originally forged into a new form by the Duardin God Grungni these floating 'islands' for lack of a better term were coveted by Tzeentch who unleashed his horrors in order to take their magic. This unleashes disaster upon the men and Duardin who live in the Spiral Crux. The duardin who escape the terrible fate that preys on those land bound people below become some of the first Kharadron Overlords. When Sigmar returns with his Stormcast Eternals the inner islands of t

After last week's Kurnoth fueled hunt, this week we turn to the lands he hunted in

The Everspring Swathe

The Everspring Swathe was the residence of Alarielle and Kurnoth in the Age of Myth. It's continents were seeded with Sylvaneth from Alarielle's soul-pods. Although there are disputes and rivalries, most learn to live with each other and a currency of labor divided by time develops. The Age of Chaos brings with it vast invasions of Nurgle, who wants to annex the Swathe into his garden. Kurnoth is slain and Alarielle is nearly captured but saved by the arrival of the Hallowed Knights Stormcasts and replanted

Hello everyone,

As you know some of the best stories in the mortal realms are the novels and short stories that flesh out the dark (and bright) corners of this fantasy universe.

We at the mod team would like to have some fun in-depth discussion of these stories with the subreddit. To that end, we are beginning the AoSLore book club.

Basically every 2 weeks we will announce a novel or short story set in the AoS universe that we will be reading and then we will have another 2 weeks to read said story. After which we will post a stickied discussion of it that will be up for a week.

Everyone is invited to join and read with us! Our first book will be "Scourge of Fate" by Robbie MacNiven.

After last week's watery ride in the Whirlways, this week we travel through the deadly forests of the Hunter God

Kurnoth

Kurnoth is the god of Hunters and one of the several gods worshipped by the Sylvaneth. He is in fact the only Sylvaneth god that is worshipped equally to Alarielle. Kurnoth was slain in the Age of Chaos by Horticulous Silmux in a season that weakened the hunter god. Afterwards Kurnoth's spear and what remained of his body was brought back to Alarielle who still communes with his soul and uses the spear to wage war against the holdings of Nurgle. While the Kurnoth Hunters, the embodiment of
