I recently had a contractor out to add a sump pump to a crawlspace. They routed the drain pipe up to the basement ceiling joist, and then ran it along the joist to drain outside via a long flexible drain pipe. It's very close to a buried downspout drain, and I wonder if there's a way to route the smaller sump drainpipe into the larger buried one without digging up the buried pipe. Any ideas?
Okay, I have the weirdest problem. I have a 19 Alltrack that "detects" an obstruction whenever I'm backing out of or into my garage. The sensors emit a long steady beep and then the emergency braking kicks in. Once I clear the garage, no more issue.
This didn't happen in my last garage. I moved a month ago and this issue only happens in my new garage. The ground is flat, so the sensors aren't picking up on a change in incline or anything. I took the car to see if any error codes were given during diagnostic testing and everything was normal. I tried covering the garage door lasers and even shutting off electricity in the garage, no dice. I turned off maneuver braking in the system settings
I need to board my cat for a day. Who do you recommend I take her to?
I'm looking at houses to buy and as a new Iowan have discovered that title insurance doesn't exist here. According to this and other sources, the buying process includes attorneys that basically vet the title and work with the sellers to fix any issues before the sale goes through, ensuring the buyer gets a clear title.
How does this work in practice? I understand that a lender won't issue a loan until any title issues are clear. Have there been instances where an Iowa property has settled only for title issues to arise later? If so, who foots the bill for dealing with that?
I recently moved to the area and have a 2019 VW. I don't have prepaid maintenance or really the desire to drive to Des Moines just to overpay at the dealer for service. Any recs for a local shop?
You going home? Where's home for you?
Sticking around? What are your plans? Are you working, studying, both?
Four students in street clothes walking in a regimented line on Osborn by the armory. The second was holding a folded US flag to his chest with his arms crossed in an X over the flag. No speaking and looking straight ahead.
What were they doing?
My mom sent photos of citizens cleaning up today after a riot in Madison, Wisconsin yesterday. Can we do the same thing in DTX tomorrow, or should we let the city handle it? Don't want to get in the way.
Update, 6/1: Folks are organizing and/or discussing pockets of cleanup and support. In addition to the efforts discussed in this thread, here are other threads of related content:

Hi friends - I'll be in Venice in the last week of August and we have tickets to the Jova Beach Party at Lignano Sabbiadoro. Google says it's an hour drive, or two hours by train. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to get to and from the show? It goes till midnight and we're staying in the Canaregio neighborhood in Venice.
I'm not averse to renting a car for the day, but if it makes more sense to find accommodation in Lignano for that night I'll consider it too.
I'm looking for new places to browse around, and I'm not opposed to driving a bit outside the city (up to an hour). Where do you like to go?
