I’m flying from Seoul to seattle in less than 24 hours. I requested upgrade through upgrade certificates form last week. When I look at the upgrade list, I’ve got 5 people ahead of me and I think I saw there were two seats available in business. I thought upgrade certificates should clear within 72 hours. I’m titanium. Does anyone know how it works?

So I flew from Seattle to Seoul on the new business class. The service and amenities were good but the business class left a lot to be desired. I requested un upgrade using upgrade certificates. Upgrade wasn’t confirmed until I boarded and was seated in Economy. After the flight was fully boarded, an FA came over with a new boarding pass and moved me to the business cabin. So not sure if it used my upgrade certificates or I got that upgrade due to my Titanium status.
The good:
- friendly FAs and it was a nice vibe
- the amenities were good
Not so good:
- the seat is cramped, especially around the legs. I’m 6’2” and my feet were in contact with the sides the whole time. Felt reall
Stayed at the W in Sydney for two nights. Booked two nights for 132k points. Requested upgrade using upgrade certificates. Upgrade was approved a a few days before the stay start date, and I was upgraded to Superior one bed room suite with harbor views.
The room: 4/5
The suite was beautiful and was eclectic as it is typical for the Ws. There was a powder room, a huge walk in closet, large bathroom with a separate rain shower and bath tub section (quite spacious overall). The living room had good views of the harbor too. The only downside is there are two huge pillars going through the room especially in the middle of the living room that make the room feel small and tight and you have to
Will be in Sydney next Friday and Saturday for a short vacation. Reading a lot of bad reviews about W. Which one would you pick? I’m Titanium and will be booking using points - the cost is similar. Also requesting upgrade through upgrade certificates.
I’m planing to visit New Zealand from May 24-May 31. In planning to do Eid either in Auckland or in Queenstown? Would love to meet up if anyone is around at the time. I’m 35, Indian origin man living in the US.
I would love some travel and food recommendations too.
Hello all - I’m travelling to New Zealand from the US for the first time. I’ll be there from Sunday May 24 - Sun May 31. I want to make the most of my time but also take it easy - I’m a relaxed traveller who doesn’t want to spend every minute doing some activity. I am Muslim so I have dietary restrictions (halal only). May 27 happens to be the biggest Muslim holiday which I’m planning to spend in Auckland. Would love your feedback on my itinerary below. Am
I doing too much? Am I missing out on something?
Day 1 - May 24 - Arrive in Auckland and explore the city
Day 2 - May 25 - Ferry to Waiheke Island. Spend the day here and back to Auckland in the evening
Day 3 - May 26 - Rent car to go

I booked a round trip Premium Economy through a work travel agent. The flights were from SEA —> LAX in Alaska Main and then LAX —> HKG, HKG —> BLR in Cathay Premium Economy and back through the same route in same class.
My return flight from HKG was delayed so Cathay booked me on a later flight with Alaska from LAX to SEA. However they have now booked me on the basic economy fare even though plenty of main and premium fares are available. I’m Titanium with Alaska and because it’s Saver, I can’t choose my seats either. I also think I’ll earn less miles for this segment. Anything I can do to get Cathay to compensate me for this?
I have Marriott Titanium and currently staying at the St Regis Osaka. I have stayed at the St Regis properties once before at St Regis Bali. The difference in experience is like night and day. While St Regis Bali was the epitome of service and opulence, St Regis Osaka leaves a lot to be desired.
- nightly upgrade awards: tried to apply. Didn’t work and I wasn’t surprised after reading the posts here. There were suites available for purchase so not sure how it really works.
- At check in, they tried to sell me upgrades to suites. Showed me some suite options that I could get after paying, which I felt was weird. I think this was most likely miscommunication.
- This was the worst part.
I’m flying from Seattle to Japan on the Main fare booked directly with Alaska. I have Titanium. I got a schedule change notification to contact customer support. When I contacted, they said there was a flight number change and then also let me know that I was upgraded to First.
A couple weeks ago, I had requested an upgrade by filling up the HA form using upgrade certificates. I’m not sure if the upgrade I received was due to my Titanium status(Alaska mentioned that starting spring they’ll upgrade status holders); or it was because of the upgrade certificates although I still see the upgrade certificates as “unused” in my account.
I’m Titanium and travelling with my brother tomorrow. I’m already checked in and noticed that my brother and I are top of the line in the upgrade waitlist. I also see several empty seats in first class but there are no two seats that are together. So if our upgrades clear, will they seat us together and move a FC passenger to another seat? Or they won’t clear our upgrade because they can’t find two seats together in FC for us?
