With Espionage ideas, and the Espionage-Administrative idea(adm), and the espionage-defensive idea(mil), and the administrative-defensive idea(adm), you get -0.40 corruption in total.

If you're a huge nation going for WC, you're gonna have +0.8 from territories, which is counteracted by paying fullly to root out corruption. If you're constantly at war to keep overextention high, you're gonna have a constant +0.4 or so corruption from overextention, leaving you with at least +0.2 corruption. This means you need to be ahead of time in admin or dip to actually reduce corruption.

Is it then worth it to pick espionage, and maybe even defensive for the policy?

You could pick ADM and DEF early

There's often the case that your consort is loaded with strength, not just in monarch points, but in dynasty as well. This, along with the fact anglican is in the game but the mechanics with consorts is basically nothing, could make consorts a new way to explore female rulers. She may even produce a better heir while she's in power.

Does she kill her baby, or does does the buffoon heir apparent rely on the queen to rule in his stead? There's great flavor here, untapped.

You get +2 for getting a tech ahead of time. This is great, because if you pay three times to get above 5.0, you get a -0.5% power cost bonus!!

However, you've also paid three times the cost for being ahead of tech, which if you're strongest is at least +20% cost on that tech(to be ahead of time, and in time for bonus, and is probably even more) for a whooping +60% cost now, for a future saving of 0.5%.

That's, how to say this, the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever. The banner just tricks you into bad decisions. Realistically, you're gonna be ahead of time in mil since the only spending point is attacking forts and rolling generals. Sure, you could stay ahead

As the title says, the question is which of these is the best modifier.

  • +10% Provincial trade power modifier

Directly increases the trade power in every province by 10%. Seems to be strongest when you're competing over a shared node.

  • +10% Trade Efficiency

Applies directly to the trade income, seems to be best if you're dominating a good node.

  • +10% Global Tariffs

Only applies when you have a colonial empire.

To make it more interesting, let's take the position that you've conquered the usual things for a decent sweden game, namely all of scandinavia, all of the baltic sea trade region(Pomerania, teutonic knights, livonian order),

The timurids, with at least 40k troops WILL declare reconquest on you within a year.

Your entire country is shia while you're sunni, so you have to take a -2 stab to shift over day one or get rebels who take longer than you can survive to convert your nation.

So you're shia, one of the only few and you have nobody to ally because of that except for tiny states. But wait it gets better, since you have two vassals with a combined 5 troops for two relationship slots, you're lucky to get two tiny allies. Together if you can scrape together 35K troops it's magical.

But wait it gets better. You have a fort, but it's on the wrong side of the country so you get no protection from it at all so yo

This is the current state of anglicanism.

All Anglican countries receive

  • −10% Development cost
  • +50% Innovativeness gain

Religious actions

  • Divorce Consort 100; The current consort is removed. (This does not end any royal marriages.)

  • Marry Local Noblewoman 100; Gain a random female consort from this country.

  • Dissolve Monasteries 100; Gain ducats equal to 0.25 years of income.

  • Grant Monopoly 100; Gain 1% mercantilism.

  • Progress of the Supreme Governor 200; Gain 1 stability.

Both divorce consort and marry local noblewoman has near zero impact on anything and are there for flavor only, so we will ignore them.

It takes a long time to get innovativeness up even with

Wait 10 years for ming to accept as the "strategic interests" malus blocks you.

Declare one war, get some AE or a vassal, now tributary status is broken.

Attempt to reestablish tributary, but it's been 20 years now.

Say fuck it, Declare war to surrender under the condition of tributary status. Ming doesn't want it. Peace out by giving up the land you conquered the first time you were tributary.

Ming has sent you a request for you to become a tributary.

This just happened to me again. Could it not be consistent? Why can you only sometimes surrender into tributary? Why does it break if I get a vassal? Why can't I do more than +100 improve relations and sit on my ass waiting for "stra

Having to disenchant five nunus when you have every champion is an offputting and annoying task to complete that you know is only the outcome of the new progression design which takes advantage of psychology to increase purchases. There is absolutely no point in duplicate shards and shards for champs you already own other than enabling this scheme for players who did not start playing literal years ago.

It's hard finding a good spot to start with, so I wanted to ask where you've started your games or where you would start if you consider some types of custom nations like militarist, colonial, tall play, or merchant republics. Where's a good place for ideas guy achievement? Do you tend to start outside of europe?

Every time I play in the HRE, I'm so unsure of how the religion game plays out and what I should be considering when deciding what to do. I have some questions.

When should you switch religion? As soon as you can or once you have religious or humanitarian ideas going?

Is it a bad idea to switch if none of the large nations have a center of reformation? Do they switch without being automatically converted by a reformation center?

What if you or a close neighbour gets a center of reformation for a religion that you don't want?

If you want to sieze control of the HRE and form the holy roman empire, how should you play then?

Is there any reason to even pick reformed over protestant or catho

I've never done a culture shift, but is it a good idea?

Denmark has weak ideas while sweden, prussia, or even norway has more interesting ideas. If you culture shift to prussian you could from prussia, and then germany, whereas staying in the nordic culture group would make scandinavian land powerful. If you culture shift to swedish, won't you be a sweden that already controls scandinavia, but in red? You'll miss out on swedish events I guess?

I got an order for 1240 rice, and i hustled for 15 days to scrape up 1242 units of rice just in time to get on the road.

Great! Keep it up!

Unfortunately, when i arrived, the hay and meals I packed apparently weren't good enough for my animals and colonists. I arrive with 1220 something rice, and the fuckers won't take my fucking rice! I didn't want do do harm to anything at all, in fact, i wanted to do absolutely nothing at all anymore. I went to lie down a bit, contemplating the life of the peasants.

Scenario:

You're on the ice cap. Not a lot of food around, but people come by. You gotta hustle. Your colonists hate eating human meat. Eventually, after many meals, you get a message.

Colonist PickyEater has obtained a proclivity for human consumption. PickyEater now has the Cannibalism trait.

Now imagine this with Green Fingers, Bloodlust, Brawler, Psychopath, etc.

How susceptible to this idea are you? In my mind, having colonists acquire traits based on actions is exactly the kind of emergent gameplay the devs are aiming for.

You could also make a new class of traits that are only from learned behavior, so it reinforces or hinders a playstyle you've been pursuing. It could make
