Ghosted and wants a chance

Dating & Courtship 💑

I was genuinely really interested in this guy and saw serious potential with him. We live about a few hours apart. He originally worried and overthinked that the distance wouldn’t work, because his last potential was long distance. Even though he sometimes comes to my city to see friends. One weekend, he was actually in my city while I happened to be in his. His last messages to me were him teasing me about being in my city and even joking about wanting to speak to my dad.

The following weekend, I was willing to make the effort and travel to see him properly. We had plans to meet that week, then he randomly ghosted me. The last message was him joking about speaking to my dad. There was no a

I've only actually been on one proper date and I think it made me realise how much I want to experience being properly wined and dined. I want to feel like a man is courting me.

The guy even mentioned bringing me flowers beforehand but then didn't, and he turned up in a tracksuit. He had normal clothes like jeans he could've worn, but chose the tracksuit 😭 Maybe some girls wouldn't care but I'm just not into that for a date.

I want to put on a cute dress, do my hair and makeup, wear heels and go somewhere nice. I want a guy who dresses up too, brings me flowers and makes the whole thing feel romantic and like an actual date.

But the biggest thing is I don't want to have to ASK a man to d

The struggles of marriage and qabil

Traditions & Expectations 🇸🇴

I’ve been struggling with something and I wanted to hear from people who understand Somali culture and family expectations.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a dream of my future. I always imagined getting married, bringing my husband back home to my city, introducing him to my extended family, and him becoming part of that world.

I imagined us enjoying the farm life together, spending time with my relatives, sharing meals, and him experiencing the place that is such a big part of who I am. It’s not just about where someone is from, it’s about sharing my home, my memories, and my roots with the person I marry.

Recently, I’ve started liking someone from a different qabil, and he's so

I met someone I liked, we had a good date, we planned to meet again... The part I'm struggling with is the communication between dates.

He usually replies about once a day, sometimes after 12–48 hours. We exchange maybe one message each a day, and that's it. He hasn't suggested calling me once this week, and the conversations feel a bit flat. I know we met on a dating app, so I'm assuming he's probably talking to other women too, which I understand at this stage, but I can't help feeling like I'm getting very little attention or our text messages convos are so boring.

I'm trying to work out whether this is just a normal pace for early dating or whether it's a sign that he's only mildly int

While we were talking on the phone before the date, he started speaking about our first meetup and said he thought I was the prettiest girl he knows. He says I took his breathe away and mentioned another girl I know saying she's second place. The thing is, I grew up seeing this girl around and I still see her in my city all the time, so now every time I see her or speak to her, I remember what he said and it makes me feel weird.

He says him and his friends used to rank girls when they were younger and apparently a lot of guys in our city would always say this girl was the prettiest. He said he didn’t know me back then though because I grew up very lowkey and honestly I don’t really know guy

I’m a woman in my 30s and I’ve been seriously getting to know people for marriage.

One thing I keep coming across is that almost every guy I speak to, even the ones who seem really kind and practicing, eventually tells me they’re not virgins. I know in Islam it’s between them and Allah, and they didn’t even need to tell me, but they chose to be honest.

The problem is I’m really struggling with how I feel about it.

I’ve stayed away from haram relationships my whole life and always hoped I’d end up with someone who did the same. I try to tell myself I can look past it, if they’ve changed and are serious now, and that maybe I could deal with it as long as I never find out who the girls were

I always felt like I was the least liked in my older years of my life. I've never the favourite friend or favourite cousin. Some of my cousins who are around my age look down upon me. I'm the friend who always makes plans otherwise we will never meet up. I'm the friend people forget about and they only remember me because I check up on my friends. Do they ever check up on me? i dont remember anyone ever has. Most of my friends have their own friendship group or best friends. They prioritse those friends over me.

Today, I've decided after today I'm going to stop making plans with people and stop reaching out to anyone. I know i will get lonely but I'd rather be on my own than be around peopl

I asked my friend to go celebrate leaving my toxic workplace with me and have dinner. A day later through social media I found out the day we are having dinner. she holding an event for charity just was set up last minute. I can't be mad at her because Allahumma barik I'm glad she's doing this event to help her family but what about my dinner. This dinner was important to me to celebrate my new chapter of life but I can't be angry or upset but I am. I did let her know and she did apologise. She blamed it on being busy but she snaps me what she does in her days. she mostly hangs out with her other friends. With me shes always on whatsapp messaging others and her other friends. She could of ta

I went to a store that was high end for tea. This was my second or third time buying from them. I had the tea I wanted to buy on the till and I wanted to tell the associate about a negative I experience I had with another product they sold. I explained the issue and in her reply she didnt even look at me instead she looked at the person behind me and gave her reasonings but the tone wasnt nice at all. I didnt even realise someone was standing behind me and listening. The way I was looked down upon and she spoke to me like i was stupid. I was being super nice the entire time so I stood there in shock for a second.

This event plays in my head every now and then. I walk past the store a lo

I wanted advice on how to socialize with people better. I'm a pretty easygoing person and love speaking to others. I was invited to an iftar event and knew two other people attending, but I didn't know the rest of the girls.

When I first walked into the event, I was surprised by the number of people there, but I greeted everyone as soon as I walked in. I was excited to get to know more people and make friends, but it soon turned very awkward. People didn’t really know each other, but since I had my friend next to me, we could talk to people together, which made it easier.

My friend eventually moved to another part of the house, and I started a conversation with someone new. I was happy to

Employed for 2 years and 7 months and in the UK.
My company is going through redundancies at the moment. I received a consultation email in the last hour, and my meeting is on Monday. I need some advice on what to do. I’ve been told I will be paid my gross weekly wage for the past two years. However, there has been no mention of payment for my unused holiday days or my notice period, which is three months. My last day of work is set for April, but there’s no mention of my three-month notice period, which is in my contract, nor of my unused holiday days, which I haven’t taken and are supposed to be paid. Also, I’m not getting any garden leave, which they’ve refused. I’ve sent an email to HR
