Villains Ring Tones

SpoilerSpoilers All

It strikes me that with the Castle Harry can use Bob to programme all sorts of personalised alarms for his very own rogues gallery should they approach the Castle.

for a start Nicodemus there is only one possible tune for him which is appropriately insulting;-

”Coin Operated Boy” by who else The Dresden Dolls

The real reason is that Peace Talks will take place in Chicago in a year when the infamous Cubs Curse may be broken and they finally win the World Series.

Now the Billy Goat Curse is part of the Dresdenverse history, Gwynn Ap Nudd said one day the Cubs would break through it, and if it happens in the year the Cubs do it then it can't go without serious mention in Peace Talks.

Has Jim written two alternative chapters one where they win and one where they don't, and he is waiting for the World Series to play out?

On a Panel 'Truth, Justice and the Home Office' at Eastercon this morning Jim let slip that this will be the first time is the Files that a supernatural mess is created that is so large that it cannot be covered up properly by the authorities. The panel was about official reaction to supernatural events.

Fritz Haarmann former Winter Kinght, and serial killer guillotined 90 years ago, finally had his head (taken for study) cremated yesterday according to various news reports.

A fitting end to a Winter Knight, did Mab finally decide to redecorate, and if so was she making room for someone else's head on her wall?

Doesn't bode well for Harry in Peace Talks.

The perennial question, what the hell is Mac?

My suggestion is Hell indeed he is a redeemed Denarian. The role of the Knights of the Cross are to redeem the Fallen, not kill them, and Father Forthill admitted their records of the Fallen are incomplete as every couple of Centuries Nicodemus systematically destroys them. Why?

The most logical reason would be that the Knights had at least one genuine success, a Fallen and its mortal human host BOTH changed their mind and decided they were wrong and got out of the game. This may suggest a Denarian infected by Nemesis, who had been cured.

Turning to Mac, it would be presumed that only a Member of The Accords could get accorded neutral territor

We learn in Skin Game from Molly that Maeve had ignored her duties for about 150 years, the duration of her tenure as Winter Lady, which puts the previous Winter Lady's death at between 1860 and 1865 (150 years and just over) obviously on either a solstice or Halloween in those years.

A WoJ has it that the last Winter Lady was undone by a Starborn, who was that Starborn? If they can be identified then we may have some idea as to what Starborn actually means/does.

One perhaps related/unrelated thought is that Skin Game also introduced the English Prisoner. Could he be that Starborn? A Victorian era Englishman would be more in keeping than an Arthurian era Englishman as regards the language

I have just read the first quarter of AAAA Wizardry, which introduces the character of of Illyana, a young female warden. The story is set between Proven Guilty and Turncoat and involves Harry training 'Baby Wardens', and was published in full with the second RPG book.

It strikes me this is an excellent way to insert a Retcon into the Dresdenverse, as appears to have been the case with the Bigfoot Triology setting up for the Genowska in Skin Game. It would be a smart way to keep such an involved and complex series on track over 20 plus books.

I am wondering if this has been used by Jim to insert a character set up for Kumori and wrong foot everyone set on Elaine.

Looking through the WoJ thread there was a question about who Bob used to be before he was bound to the skull and Jim said something along the lines of 'the real question was whose skull was Bob in before' (this was before we learnt the true nature of the parasite).

In hindsight Bob obviously came into being in a similar fashion to the parasite and this is what was being referred to rather than any previous sanctum, which is where the thread began speculating.

Speculation please as to parentage.

In the Dresdenverse, Trolls are creatures of Faerie intimately involved in the whole Bridge Thing for example Golgoth in "Restoration Of Faith"

Now when Karrin killed Golgoth all those little Trolls escaped from his body. Where did they go?

The Internet?

It would explain so much.

Everyone seems to be taking the forthcoming Dresdenverse Apocalypse as an "End Of The World" Scenario. What if this isn't the meaning Jim is giving it though. What if it is in fact he is giving it, its Greek meaning, 'uncovering' a revelation of knowledge.

We have originally been given a Judao-Christian take on Apocalypse, of the end of thr world and suddenly we discover that this war predates Christianity, with it's roots in Ancient Greece. If this is the case then this is a literary sleight of hand of the highest magnitude, brilliantly executed.

What would be this Revelation? Well the big one in the Dresdenverse is the knowledge of the Never, Never and it's denizens being kept from morta

Harry has long been thinking about Physics and the way it relates to magic, that is the physical effects that magic can generate, such as taking heat from one place and putting it somewhere else to create a refrigeration effect.

What else could he do? What about using a Forzare variant to remove the momentum from an opponent, for example transferring it to something else. Subtracting the rotational speed of the Earth from someone, have them effectively flying backwards at up to 1070 mph (at the equator) less elsewhere. Not unlike Harry's Earth attack. You would need to put the energy somewhere though, could he speed up half of someone's body and slow down the other half? It might be a type

Headaches gone, physically well, and for the first time financially well off.

Clearly it is time to put Harry through the wringer again!

What can Jim do to Harry that is new?

My own thought is that Harry will be buying his own house and that is one of the most stressful things in most peoples life, so what if everything that can go wrong does go wrong as a backdrop to the usual supernatural shenanigans, not only taking on Vampires, Trolls and zombies, but realtors, lawyers and building inspectors who he can't (no matter how much he wants to) blast into a greasy smear. You could almost imagine Harry's relief at being interrupted by some major crisis .

If you are what you eat then surely Harry's cat is part Fae by now, as you don't get called a 'Dread Beast' by refraining from snacking on a nice Brownie with your saucer of milk.

This would of course mean that he is becoming a Malk.

Having recently looked through WoJ, I wonder whether the Peace Talks in question involve the accession of a new party to the Unseelie Accords, one which would be a real gamechanger.

The U.S. Government.

Jim has hinted that the Federal Government knows more than it is saying, from Fool Moon and the theft of the loupe Garou videoand the attack on the FBI Offices in Changes won't have been properly covered up by the Red Court as they unexpectedly went extinct.

The Fomor also show little discretion and they are moving everywhere in North America, not just Chicargo. Could this have brought Uncle Sam to negotiating table.

We know from WoJ that Peace Talks is one of the more 'supernaturally v
