So I recently signed up for a program called Gotoco that sets up interested English speakers with summer teaching placements in China. Room and board are included as well as a stipend. You can find out more here!.

All that isn't covered are your flight and visa costs (which can be hefty I know).

Also useful: Gotoco will provide flight discounts to those who spread the word (...so full disclosure).

I hope this is useful to any people interested in spending time in China on a budget while also earning their Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate!

I am in desperate need of advice regarding a masters program choice. I have just been offered places at UBC (probably under Leonid Chindelevitch or Cedric Chauve who are both actually at SFU) as well as a place in the UoE Informatics masters program. The UoE Bioinformatics component seems less developed than UBC but the diversity of courses is astounding (especially for someone with interests in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroinformatics). I am primarily a mathematician but have worked in disease bioinformatics labs in my home country. I am looking for a course with a rigorous approach and solid foundations in Machine Learning. Does anyone have experience with either of these programs? Any

I helped someone with a jump today. They mistakenly hooked their own car up incorrectly. They managed to fry their battery plates but my car seems to be working fine.

Should I be worried about possible damage to the alternator and/or battery?

I'm an undergraduate student in mathematics and biology. I'm interested in a postgraduate program in biomathematics at a University in my country. The program may include a project in invasion biology which I know nothing about. I'd really appreciate any advice, perspectives and/or literature suggestions from people in the field. Especially those with a mathematical or statistical focus.

I wasn't 100% sure I was posting to the right subreddit since this is rather more vague than is the norm here. I'm looking for the name or if possible songs of this genre. I'm sure I have been told about it before but have since forgotten. The music is generally very dramatic and sometimes associated with ideas of nationalism and the old Soviet Russia in the media.

Edit: Chanting was probably the wrong word and I don't think the music is generally associated with the orthodox church. It has a sort of domineering quality if that makes sense.

This may seem a strange question (or a blindingly obvious one, I never know), but, assuming the usual axioms, is there a sequence whose limit's existence has been shown to not be decidable. That is, it has been proved that this limit's convergence cannot be proved or disprove.

Note: Real numbers preferable but weird spaces welcome!

Hi r/biology!

I'm an undergraduate student studying statistics and genetics (with some background in applied mathematics and computer science). I'm looking for some great textbooks in the fields of biomaths and biostatistics. I would really appreciate any books with a focus on population genetics. But, any other interesting recommendations you can make with a focus on the mathematics behind biology and evolution would be gratefully received.
