I never thought I would make it to 2 years sober but today I am here!! Finally made it to a year last March and could not even go out to eat at a restuarant to celebrate because of lockdowns. From then on the whole world went to hell! So many twists and turns even in my personal life so it has been quite a journey! Estatic to say that I AM still standing stronger than I have ever been!! Woohoo
Proudly will not drink with you today, my friends!
I have been sober for a long time but this is such a hard time for me to get through. I know to never pick up that first one but my world is crashing down. It still is no reason to have a drink but you know what? I want to forget this gut wrenching pain for a bit. I am only human and I just need a break. Raising my 17 year old grandaughter is not it, not being able to be with my family is not it. What is driving crazy is my grown daughter on heroin again is it. She is in trouble with the law and may not live until court she is so bad. I can not understand it. I have never been in trouble with the law or done heroin but have spent thousands of dollars to help her and seems there is no hope.
Anything and everything has happened this week. My patience has been tried like 10 times plus. I have been upset to the point of nausea over actions of some loved ones. The only saving grace from my messed up disfuntional famiy has been my sobriety and today I have made it 600 days! Going to try for 601 tomorrow but it has been a test this week for real!
Today is day 555 sober! I was diagnosed with diabetes 3 months ago. I thought giving up alcohol was hard but then I had to give up carbs too! I have quit so many things in my life. I quit alcohol on March 22nd, 2019 and then on June 12, 2020 I was diagnosed as a diabetic! I gave up alcohol and then I had to give up carbs too? Withdrawals from carbs are kinda like alcohol as it is like the flu! What the hell! I did it though and as of this week when I saw my dr I am not a diabetic anymore! I had an A1C of 11.4 in June and in Sept. my A1C was 5.6! Diabetes was harming my liver and kidneys too but today they are normal and I am on cloud nine! My health is more important than any carb or alcoho
I made it to 400 days! Can not really believe it right now! Wanted to celebrate somehow while in lockdown so I baked a gluten free, made from scratch coffee cake. Just got it out of the oven and going to have a BIG piece with my coffee right now! Yum :)
I know everyone is going through their own living hell right now. It makes me so appreciate the blessings I have but also makes me so scared of what is to come! That lying Lucy voice is working hard on me and trying to get me to drink! I know she is lying and I will not listen no matter how loud she gets!! This is the time to stand strong together!!
I want to thank first and foremost all the healthcare people on the front lines for putting their lives on the line fighting the invisible foe everyday!! You are real heros in this fight against this ferocious invisible demon!! There are other heros like all the pharmacy people, the workers that get things shipped to us, the grocery store worker
I made it! This year has been a hard, wild and crazy ride! Yesterday, I read the journal I started on day one. I was a good reminder of it all! I am touched and proud to be able to say, "Happy 365 "to me today!!
This year, life still happened hard! The good, bad, happy, sad along with the mad! It was still well worth the outcome! I managed to muddle through it one day at a time with so much help from the good people here! Heartfelt thanks to all!
Celebration day today and everyone is invited! xo
Edit: Whoever gave me gold, thank you! We all deserve gold no matter where we are on our journey! It has been a calorie laden, lazy day and thanks to all of you my internet friends a great one
These are times that I never thought I would see in my lifetime! I am glad that I quit drinking almost a year ago but had I not then this would have scared me into stopping! It makes me want to escape to my old ways but I can not. I will not. I need to be healthy for my family. Did I want to go to the hospital this week with my child? NO I did not even though it was not corona. Things still need to be done. Peope need to come through for those who need them! I bought 100 proof vodka since there was NO hand sanitizer and put it in a spray bottle to spray my hands, steering wheel, kids hands and door knobs. I would never even think of drinking that shit!
We do what we have to do and we all ne
My dream Alaskan trip that was planned a year ago to celebrate my one year sobriety, had to be cancelled because of corona.I have to take my adult child to the hospital tomorrow for a procedure that is very serious and I am scared of the results much less exposing her to the hospital (corona will for sure kill her)and all that is going on there right now. It has to be done now though!
I will be sober a year in 5 days and I am staying the course but Satan is working on me! Why can I not be a person that reaches their one year without the worry of corona on top of other stuff?? I am sad and it is weighing on me when this should be such a happy time of victory!
If I get bad news about my chi
"Just when a caterpillar thinks their life is over, it becomes a butterfly"!!! That is happening here everyday!!
I almost have a year of sobriety under my belt. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life but it has also been one of the most rewarding! I have stayed the course because I know me and I know that I could not moderate so did not even put that on the table. Here are some of the things I have learned here and along my journey.
I do not have to be commended for not stopping by liquor because it is up to me to resist. I do not have to be commended for staying sober through the weekend because it is up to me. I do not have to brag about being in sober for the weekend because that is what I choose. I do not have to tell everyone that I am in for the night sober because tha
We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we're here together!*
Welcome to the 24 hour pledge!
I'm pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.
Maybe you're new to r/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you're like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you've been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.
It doesn't matter if you're still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, lets not drink alcohol!
This pledge is a statement of intent. T
