Note that it is a preliminary post on reddit only. I will give it few days for any discussion to take place and see if anything needs further clarification. After that we can make a blog post on getmonero.org.

Current General Fund usage policy

I have expressed the general spending policy several years ago and it has not changed. See previous report: https://old.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/11fslu9/monero_general_fund_transparency_report_march_2023/

In short:

  1. The GF is used to cover costs of basic infrastructure useful for the Monero project. (domain, hosting, DNS...).
  2. It is used to cover part of some CCS proposals deemed "fundamental" to the project.

About a year ago I co-founded Archway, a platform for worldwide workers to easily generate an invoice for their work and then get paid in crypto without stupid delays: https://archway.finance

In essence, the paying-company pays in fiat via bank transfer and is not exposed to any of the crypto complexities. In fact the paying-company may not be aware of any crypto being involved at all, the process does not need their approval. Once the fiat transfer from the paying-company is received by Archway, the payee-contractor instantly receives the corresponding amount in crypto to the chain and address of their choosing.

Welcome to the March 2023 transparency report of the "General Fund" (GF), presenting data until March 1st 2023.

The Core Team escrows the Monero General Fund; I am currently the person taking care of this.

If you are new to Monero and more familiar with other "crypto" projects, let me first clarify some things:
The Core Team is not paid (Monero has no "dev tax") and they are not in any way, shape or form entitled to any part of the coin supply (Monero has no "premine"). The GF is funded entirely by donations from our community. The Core Team including myself perform all tasks strictly as volunteers.

What is the purpose of the General Fund?

Firstly, pay for the infrastructure nee

Hi all,

The tools and public nodes previously available at melo.tools are migrating to a new URL: https://community.rino.io

On this hub you can find various free tools including explorers for mainnet, stagenet, testnet. Faucets for testnet and stagenet, etc. Most of them are open source (the rest should be soon).

To use the public mainnet node with your wallet, you can now use node.community.rino.io. See https://community.rino.io/nodes.html for more details on public nodes including TOR addresses.

For developers, docker images (built automatically for each

Dear Monero users and participants of the Monero ecosystem,

Some vulnerabilities have been identified in the implementation of
Monero multisignature wallets.
These vulnerabilities do not affect the theory supporting multisigs,
but affect the current wallet code implementing them.

Initially disclosed and discussed via the vulnerability response
process*, the discussion has been enlarged to other key developers and
MRL contributors. We agreed together that a public announcement had to
be made.

These vulnerabilities affect (i) multisignature wallet creation and
(ii) multisignature transaction signing.
They can lead to funds being stolen by

Hey everyone,

Together with some friends and colleagues, over time we've developed and put together a number of tools and resources for the community.

You can now find them on this page: https://melo.tools

Among other things, of interest to many Monero users are powerful remote nodes that you can access at node.melo.tools for mainnet (or stagenet.melo.tools and testnet.melo.tools). You can also check their health and status automatically via API. We will add Tor nodes soon.

Of particular interest for developers, we automatically build docker images whenever there is a new tag or a new version of master branch.

Cheers

[This was originally posted at https://github.com/monero-project/meta/issues/583 but I reproduce the same content below]

In 2017, the Core Team engaged Diego Salazar ("rehrar"), as a contractor, to pick up slack that no one else in the community was willing to do. Monero was a much smaller project back then, both in community size and in numbers of contributors.
He has been instrumental in helping to get so many projects going and also in providing behind-the-scenes support to many existing projects and volunteers. Projects that have benefited from rehrar’s work include, among others, the CCS, CakeWallet, Monerujo, The Monero Village
