I'm installing 6.11.5 as my 6.9 cannot be migrated for some seeming pulp2/3 issue. That's another challenging topic I don't have the tears for today.

I have a script I've been using, since the scheduling in Satellite/Foreman seems to choke itself. It uses hammer, xargs, parallel and is called by cron. Quite simply, it moderates the flow of hammer repository synch runs so that only a few (one per core) get into the scheduler and it gatekeeps the rest until space opens up. As we have a sizeable number of repos for the machines I inherited, this keeps the machine running and the repos synching successfull

Did you ever notice in Pandaria when you were riding the kegs into the boss and you jumped off, that sometimes your camera would be messed? Instead of looking over your shoulder, it'd be looking AT you like a selfie cam. A quick /console reload and you were back in business. Sometimes, back then, it would happen again and again and again; and woe to the player who didn't know of the console reload!

Well, it's back. How often do you jump off your dragon to fight, mine or gather? If you're like me, it's many, many times an hour. also, if you're like me, you're using your mouse and several different keybinds to walk, run and sometimes turn.

The keyboard turning seems to provoke it mor

It's 2022, and supply-chain attacks are 'so hot right now' like they've been for years. As I look into installing a MID server in my automation setup, as is proper orchestration in 2022, I am challenged to find the proper software (yum) repos for the MID server.

ServiceNow is a well-recommended product, and I hear they have actual signed RPMs available, and a signed Yum-style repo is altogether completely trivial to do immediately after creating binary packages -- with checksums and signatures and everything we need.

But I can't find them. Anyone know? Please tell me this isn't another Splunk where "have you heard of a repo" is now an 11-year-old question.

Hey kids,

I'm using (gitab-ci and suitcase and thus) packer to build my Rocky9 templates for vmware (at least). As RL9 has no floppy unit, my KS is jammed on an ISO and served that way on a vmware-iso provisioner build. There is NO PXE available in this environment.

q1: is the two-CDRom method the norm?

Packer goes onto monkeytype the boot command, and it looks like

<wait><up><tab>linux inst.ks=cdrom:/EntLinux-9-x86_64.ks ip=10.1.1.3::10.1.1.254:255.255.255.0:hostname:eth0:none nameserver=10.2.1.80

... which is then appended - and I'm sure this is wrong - to the

vmlinux initrd=initrd.img inst.stage2=hd:LABEL=Rocky-9-0-x86_64-dvd quiet

preamble. (ALL th

Hey everyone,

Which version of Chef-client does RHEL/EL 9? I don't see a download on Progress's page, and it's becoming a needful thing.

Thanks for your help and suggessions.

I've requested a ticket be escalated today, and I hate the reasons why.

The support rep must be trying, and must be putting in the effort, but it seems we've swung really hard in the RH support quality pendulum, and I just can't wait for it to swing back.

For me, the last crisis of faith this big was 2014, when the company I'd just joined had a strange request: set up spacewalk, and then convert the company's entire stable to centos from RedHat. It was an easy task, but I simply had to know why. The reason? Management was so upset with support that it was ditching its entire subscription, feeling they were self-supporting anyway, and this way they could save enough to fund a full-ti

Hey folks. While renewing licenses, I saw that the Smart Management add-on adds a surprising tax to the license cost; for the smaller subscriptions, it's quite a lot.

Is there a supported patch and subscription replacement for RHSat that avoids that cost (say, with Uyuni, SuSE's fork of their Spacewalk fork) ? How much, on a dollar-offset basis, does that suck?

To be clear: I'm really looking to ditch Foreman. Saving money is easier to pitch up the chain, but I can maybe sell a "stop Bishy hulk-pounding keyboards in rage" deal with the same subscription cost and features, and that'll ensure my reps (Hi Kevin, Ted and Paul) will still think I'm worth the constant hassle.

We find Sat6 to be a little frail and finicky, and we're coming from a Sat5 world with a lot of cobblerd time before that. Let me say: Cobbler is the bomb, and we use mrepo for very little, now.

But, anyway, since sat6 results are inconsistent, we run our repo synchs in cron, with validation. We run in parallel under chronic and a few more things, but we synch 149 repos a night without problems ... except for a few of them. They're all EL8 repos (alma, rocky, springdale, navy, etc) and the error is the same:

undefined method `any?' for nil:NilClass

After a few tickets and pleadings to RH, I just hacked this up myself. It's a tiny fix to hopefully push the variable back into a

Hey Everyone,

I'm running RH Satellite6 (I know, I know, and I hate it every damned day as well). It's got pulp inside, and I'm thinking it's v2 .

For the last few days, when I go to mirror AlmaLinux repos - any of them so far - I'm getting a weird error in amongst the ruby stackbarf:

NoMethodError: undefined method `any?' for nil:NilClass

I'm hoping against hope that other people here suffering from Satellite are also mirroring via its pulp. If so, let me know whether you're successful, which mirror URLs are working or not? I'll dump the stackbarf here too, if we feel it's more hammy than spammy.

I've tried one or two different URLs, and jumped to the conclusion they're all the

Hey folks.

This is a dumb-sounding question, and I fully expect to be flamed for it. But be gentle.

Can I configure two Address lines in my wg0.conf and connect with peers using IPs on either network?

(So far, I'm seeing 'no', but I thought I should check before splitting my config)

RedHat Satellite 6.7 is 8 revisions old; on a product with presumably much more history.

We are seeing dozens of our content-views failing to publish, daily. Every one of them fails with the same error "Katello::Errors::PulpError: PLP0000: /var/lib/pulp/published/yum/https/repos/cob/content_views/cv-el6-add-epel/24.0/custom/thirdparty/6-epel-x86_64 exists, but should be a symlink. Cannot find published directory."

We currently run the workaround, for every one of them, and it's costing us some time. If we assume that this well-supported enterprise product enjoys widespread use, I'm stunned that we're seeing such a consistent failure so late in the game on what I hope is a standard ins

r/Cobbler•

Hey folks,

I'm looking to start playing with PCLinuxOS, and while r/pclinuxos seems to be idle, I know I first need to mirror that marvel so I have a local repo to pull from.

Except, I haven't used Apt4RPM since about RHL9 and that big fiasco, so I'm super stale. And I mirror with Cobbler now, which seems to mirror everything.

I was thinking an rsync mirror, but I can't find a good source URL.

Is there an easy way to set up Apt-RPM mirroring in cobbler to grab repos and genbasedir on the result when it all comes down, or am I left with a wget--mirror run?

Thanks for any suggestions!

RH BZ 1740000 , as mentioned in solution 4358871, isn't available to us.

To add glee, yum-downgrade, normally a simple treat, also doesn't work:

sudo yum downgrade samba

(yards of dependency flailing)

The problem is, we're now on RHEL/CentOS 7.7 . The very first/only samba package in the hopper is 4.9.1-6 . Thus, downgrade would work but - especially for the RHEL kids - there is nothing to downgrade to! I opened a ticket and then I ghetto-solved it for now:
