I was offered fellowship in my dream speciality recently at a new program. The only issue is that I’ve been out of residency for 2.5 years now with a baby and wondering how the transition back will be along with the burden of being one of the first fellows of the program. Can anyone who’s gone back to fellowship after working for a few years provide some insight? Were you happy with your decision?Thank you!

Hi everyone! Thinking about moving to Cerritos with a newborn to be near family and to be in a competitive school district. However, I saw that recently a bunch of elementary schools closed due to low enrollments. I’m worried about a couple things:

1. Lack of other young families/children in the area
2. The schools losing their academics standings due to the consolidations etc

Considering the high house prices we want to make the best decision. Do you guys think it’s still a good place to move to with a small child? Do you recommend any other surrounding cities instead?

Context: IMG, 2 years out of residency (at a small community hospital) and currently in a HCOL major metro area- tied to this area due to family needs.

I have been actively looking for hospitalist positions for two years now with little to no luck. Even getting a per diem position has been hard. It seems like competition is extremely stiff and all the hospital groups seem to exclusively care only about applicants’ medical school/ residency backgrounds. Anyone else coming across this issue?

I've maybe purged <10 times since being with my partner of 3 years and in recovery. I purged today after maybe 6 months and when I told my spouse, he just said ok I'm sorry just don't eat ice cream anymore. When explaining to him that is not that simple and that it would be nice if he made the effort to learn what bulimia is and how he can help, he gets very defensive. He was not exposed to mental health disorders growing up and there's a huge stigma on it in our community. How do I educate him/ are there any resources I can send him? Any tips would help! A lot of the new releases have the strangest color ways and designs. I’m not excited about them at all. Nothing compared to 5 yrs ago. Anyone else feel this way?

Like many of us, I’ve given mind, body, and soul to medicine in my 20s and now I’m 30 almost done with residency and can’t help hating medicine for taking that time away from me. I’ve had to turn away relationships, friends, fun, and sanity and being at the end, it almost feels like “…so THIS was what all of that was for?” It’s such a hollow feeling. How do you all cope with this?
