I just got home from the TNWWL tour, here is a quick recap:

First, TNWWL was extremely well executed and true to the album. It wasn’t songs from the album mixed into a set like on the KILAS tour - they opened with In the Morning and played the album front to back. It sounded like they really put the work in to capture the sound and feel of the album, and I thought they nailed it.

There was a really brief break after Stab (no Hidden Track, sorry folks) and then they came out and played another 6 song set. Setlist is below:

Get a Life

Sidewalk

Made Up Dreams

Traces

Fools Gold

Time Trap

John McMahon’s cello was a major highlight. I figured he’d do the cello parts on TNWWL, but he was

I'm trying to understand the power limiting function via the PLIMIT pin of Texas Instruments' TPA3111D1 Class D Audio Amp, described in pages 12 and 13 of the datasheet. The top of page 13 lists an equation for the power limiting function. My conundrum is that everything makes sense and I can get the math to line up IF I assume that the this equation has an error. I hate to just assume the datasheet is wrong, even though it does happen, so I'm hoping for a second opinion.

I'm looking at environmental test chamber options right now. At a minimum I need a temperature or temp/humidity chamber, but I'm also looking at temp/vibration options for HALT.

The names that seem to come up the most in my research have been Thermotron, Cincinnati Sub Zero, and ESPEC. My only first hand experience is with a decade old Thermotron.

I'm hoping someone with more experience can weigh in. Is there a reason to prefer any of those brands, or to avoid any of them? Is there anything else I should consider?

I have a large ash tree (~27” DBH) that’s dripping sap onto my deck. Earlier in the year it had a bad case of aphids and we got a lot of honeydew - this is different, bigger drips coming coming from one isolated location.

EAB supposedly hasn’t made it here yet, but I’m starting preventive treatments this year as a precaution. I haven’t seen any EAB signs like bare branch tips, frass, or exit holes. The canopy is a little thinner than past years with lots of curled leaves, but I’m told that’s from the aphids.

Is the dripping sap something I should be concerned about? The aphids seem to be gone, but could it be related?

I thought this might be a fun discussion topic: if you were in charge of picking the next official Grateful Dead Box Set release, what shows would you pick?

Try to make it "in the spirit" of a box that might actually get released. For example a collection of shows from a single era like the June '76 box, or from a common venue like the Giants Stadium box. Go into as much or as little detail as you want, and it's fair game to add disc filler or bonus content as well.

Here's mine: The Fall 1979 Box Set

Fall '79 is one of my favorite eras for the Dead, if not my absolute favorite. The band was firing on all cylinders every single night, and it's also one of the most improv-heavy eras o

To me, 12/30 feels like the sweet spot of the annual NYE run. The band has had a couple of nights to get warmed up, but without the pressure of playing three sets and doing the NYE gag and everything else that goes along with the big night. The last several 12/30 shows have stolen their respective runs and just been incredible shows in their own right. 12/30/2016 had heavyweight Tweezer, Ghost, and Light jams with the last slipping like butter into a surprise Party Time. 12/30/2017 had that enormous Disease followed by the true highlight which was the deep deep space jam out of Steam. 12/30/2018's Everything's Right>Plasma>Light put it squarely on par with the amazing show the night

I've noticed a lot of complaints here that SiriusXM has been leaning a lot on studio tracks lately, and of a pretty limited song pool. I remember hearing the studio cut of Crazy Fingers three times in two days just a few weeks ago. But it seems like in the past week or so they're picking up more on the jams. I just got out of the car now, and they were in the middle of the almost 30 minute Help>Slip>Frank from 6/14/76, where the Slipknot jam goes totally freeform. I haven't heard the channel play anything that adventurous outside of TIGDH and the full show broadcasts in a long time. Has anyone

I'm looking to turn my Pi 3 into a media center and torrent box. I've found a number of tutorials online recommending programs like Deluge or Transmission (their Daemons in particular), but when I try to download and install those packages via apt-get, it pops back that the packages cannot be located. To be clear, I'm using the exact commands listed in the tutorials and tried copy/pasting to make sure I wasn't mistyping. I'll copy them below for reference:

  • sudo apt-get install deluged

  • sudo apt-get install transmission-daemon

Is there any reason why these applications would no longer be available for RPi, or at least unavailable through apt-get? I believe one of the tutorials was writt

To preface, I wouldn't consider myself a guitar tech (much less a luthier) but I'm working on rebuilding and modifying a bass and I have a question.

One of the modifications makes the neck pickup sit a little too high. The pole pieces are adjustable so it isn't a problem from that end, but it's high enough that I'm worried that the strings will smack the pickup casing. Ideally I want to just raise the strings up by maybe 1/32" or a little more (.050" tops) without affecting the action on the neck. Is this something I could accomplish by shimming the whole neck up (not at an angle) and adjusting the bridge saddles by the same amount? I have plenty of adjustment in the saddles, I should b

Quite some time ago I heard a version of The Other One on the SiriusXM Grateful Dead station which was a lot slower and spacier than usual. I want to say Bobby had a lot of effects like reverb and echo on his vocals. Does anyone know what show this is from? I want to say sometime in the mid 80s.

I've been reading lately about drama involving Dan Healy, which is what brought this jam back to my mind. Supposedly Healy didn't like the "Rockstar Bobby" of the 80s so he would always fuck with his sound, turning down his guitar and adding weird effects to his vocals. Does anyone know any kind of back story for this jam? Maybe Healy maliciously added the effects to Bobby's vocal feed and the band
