So the new crafting potential in season 2 is amazing. It makes it possible to play and craft and improve as you move along with less help from a dedicated mf char and uniques. It is neat.

However, it seems that rares will be neglected, or as neglected as they usually are and not worth picking up, whereas a large amount of magic items will be instead. It's a pity as good rares can represent that surprise at the end of a unique mob battle that can give you a good endorfin kick that we all enjoy. Instead, crafting and getting good items for crafting requires only finding magic items which are a lot easier to come by, making it less interesting to gear up for mf and picking on unique mobs alone

Update to rules and community

HYPNOTOAD APPROVED :illuminati:

Dear community.

r/EliteMiners has grown quite large. We have never received so many daily posts, never before has so many assisted in the science of mining, and it is truly a great community to both be part of as well as moderate. Now we have reached more than 24k subscribers. Nice.

We have also never had to moderate much and the voting functions have always worked well to filter unwanted content. We very much want to keep it that way as much as possible. Thank you for this.

With the recent implementation of carriers and buy and sell orders, the potential for player economy and interaction have come true in ways we had not dreamed of back in 2014.

What the actual hell? So am I supposed to buy a new ship every time I want to upgrade my modules from a lower class or lower rated component? How is this good for anyone? If this does what I think it does, congrats FDev, you just locked out all players who are NOT in their end game ship and who want to progress the game through a criminal playstyle.

Accidentally completed that assassination mission in your Cutter without having swapped to one of your A rated boosters? Well tough luck. You now have to either buy a new cutter or pay a billion credits to remove your wanted status.

Edit: typo

Edit2: Ed has answered on the main forums that they made an oopsie: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/s

So I mapped out the lonely Hazres at Njikan. Took me three days of screenshotting to do it. Found a route to 8 good painite rocks.

Here's my screw-up: I started at the very center of the Hazres. When I got down to business I managed to mine the first rock and then I was scanned and jumped by 5 elite anacondas. I almost got out alive. Almost.

Made me wonder about the best solution for extracting the dough:

  • kill all the bigger pirates first?

  • only mine in a wing with other armed miners?

  • start all over mapping the Hazres and start out at 20km, only mining painite here?

What are your strategies?
