I just received my Yamaha as-801 last night and I set it up with my Apple airport express with airplay last night. This morning I noticed they with some music there was a noticeable crackling sound on the highs (speakers are a pair of pioneer Andrew Jones floor standing speakers). At some point I noticed that if I plugged the amp directly into my phone there was no crackle. I’ve never heard this sound when using the airport on any other cheaper amps. Anyone have an idea why I’m hearing it here? I’ve tried different outlets etc. I may get an amazon echo as my input or maybe just try the optical port instead.

From time to time my macbook's trackpad becomes unresponsive for a few seconds then comes back. The cursor disappears too. Is this a known issue with Catalina? I don't recall having this problem with Mojave. This is a 2015 MacBookPro11,4.

I'ved owned my Sono Amp (latest one) for about a few months now and ive noticed once in a while when I play audio, one of the channels (i forget if its consistently the left or the right) doesn't play straight away. I am not sure if consistently its been when I use airplay or spotify connect or what but its happened a couple times. Anyone notice this?

I can’t seem to connect over the web client. My phone works. I even tried vncing to a machine on the other side of the country and open the website from there and all I get is this “oops” message on the website.

I swapped my two sonos ones for a mini-amp (SMSL) plus a sonos connect and some pioneer floorstanding speakers, but I'm lately thinking it'd be nice to have airplay on these speakers and reduce the clutter of having two components.

Whats the consensus on the sonos amp? I know its pricey but is it worth it? Anyone had any malfunction in the short time its been around?

Edit: Alright Alright guys youve convinced me, I bought it! I will be upgrading from an SMSL AD18 + a Sonos Connect to the new Sonos AMP. The SMSL is a quality product, so ill prob keep both at my parents place until I move to a place with an additional room.

I've been looking for the best all around laptop for 2019 onward after giving my 2015MBP and other thinkpads away to family. I've gone through most every thinkpad and macbook you can think of (X, T, P series since 2005 - MBs ranging form 2-4.5 lbs). Some of my criteria this time were mostly hinging on weight and performance. Most of what I do is either not too taxing on battery life (ssh) or utterly destroys battery life (compiling large c++ projects) so thats a secondary criteria. I wanted something that has the following:

  • Decent pixel density (QHD+ unless its a smallish screen; absolutely no 1366x768)
  • 4 cores
  • usb-c chargeable
  • 16GB ram
  • if the weight is over 3lbs,

I'd prefer to use a standard macbook 87W USB-C charger to charge my next laptop (because they're literally everywhere at my work and at my parents/siblings homes). Hows the experience charging an X1 Extreme off of a usb-c 87W charger? Does is charge at all? Does it just charge very slowly?

This is probably going to be the deciding factor over if I get a X1E2 or a T490s (going for the highest core-count/weight assuming I can stag a 32GB ram T490s eventually).

I recently purchased and returned a Pioneer VSX-933. I was very excited to get this thing, but found the frequent stuttering in AirPlay2 and the 30-45 second delay in chromecast audio startup time to be infuriating and so I returned it. I was looking at some Pioneer Elite and Onkyo receivers and it sounds like they too have similar issues. Does anyone make anything that's as consistently usable as the Chromecast audio but built into the Amp (and preferably with great Airplay2 support as well)?
