Looking to install a NEMA 14/50. Is there any way to get around adding a sub panel?
reddit.com/gallery/112ko7vIn February, I called my former buyer's agent to gauge selling my home. The agent showed us one home that my wife had found interesting and said they would come over to our home if we wanted them to give us a rough estimate on what they think the house should be listed for. We decided it was a good idea and called them in for a meeting. The agent showed up for the meeting and we showed the agent around our house, then about 30 minutes later the agent said their stager was coming to tell us what to change. We thought this was really odd since we didn't know that another person was showing up. The stager suggested some painting and flooring updates which we ended up getting done with a co
I currently have a Weil McLain Gold Oil Boiler with a domestic hot water coil to provide hot water to my house. I would like to be able to turn that boiler off in the summer so I don't have to use oil during the summer (currently using about 200 gallons during the off season to heat water) and not have my A/C unit from having to fight against an uninsulated cast iron boiler full of 180° water. Also my house is a old split foyer with retrofitted central A/C which is only located on the upper floor of the house and this boiler is on the lower level, heating up the lower level all summer.
After some googling, I figure I could achieve this by adding a electric/hybrid hot water heater in seri
I was doing some landscaping underneath my deck and noticed that the base of the deck support post was discolored, so I reached down to see if I could feel what it was and ended up poking my finger into the deck support. This led me to check all of the other deck supports and they seemed good, but they're all direct buried. The rest of the deck is in good shape, no bad boards, been stained and cleaned pretty regularly.
The question is can I just replace the one support post in the short term or should I replace them all with proper footers? Am I at the point where I really should just replace the whole deck?
A/C variable speed air handler is intermittently not working. Sounds like it's trying to start but can't. HVAC service tech came out and it was working the whole time he was here and he tested the motor and said it was well within voltage range. Replace the air filter this morning.
v.redd.it/69t0brx0avg51My gable fan is currently dying in my attic and I was looking at what I had in the attic and from reading I've been doing it seems my attic ventilation is all wrong. I currently have 2 gable vents on the North and South sides of the house and a ridge vent on the roof. I imagine the gable vents are original to the house and the ridge vent looks like it was added when the roof was last replaced. I currently have no soffit venting and the insulation runs up over top of the current wooden soffit. Also none of my bathroom exhaust vents are vented outside, which seems like with the gable fan, conditioned air might be getting sucked out of them.
My house also has a retrofitted central air syst
