The series shows Steib does this 7 times before he finally completes his no-hitter. But I was wondering **how rare are these failed no-hit bids?** Google was absolutely useless in helping answer this question and I don't know of any baseball stat pages that would show this info or even how I would even go about searching for it. I was hoping to put Dave's struggles into some sort of context. I know no-hitters are extremely rare (roughly 0.13% of games end in a no-hitter) but I have no clue how rare these near no-hitters are. Does anyone have any idea?

I've noticed that every time the discussion about best scripts comes up these days everyone always refers back to movies from 40, 50 years ago. Also one of the biggest critiques of modern movies is that the writing is just not as strong. 'The golden age of television stole all the good writers' is a common refrain. I'm not disputing this as I agree the best written movies I can think of are from decades ago. But it got me thinking, there are have got to be a bunch of movies these days that have great scripts so I wanted to try to highlight those.

I'll start. The Banshees of Inishirin is a spectacular script structurally, thematically, and in terms of dialogue. I find myself getting tot

Hey does anyone know if the podcast went behind a paywall or something? I was trying to go back and listen to the old holiday episodes and found the same episode is uploaded under every date. This goes across a number of different platforms too. Can you no longer access the archive? Does anyone have working links to old episodes and the old holiday drafts in particular?

Thanks a lot

Hi there

My question is regarding the best way to accurately calculate calories burned. Should you be subtracting calories burned at your BMR from your calories burned via exercise?

Example:

  • I do an hour of exercise which my app suggests is around 500 calories burned.
  • during that same hour had I done absolutely nothing I would have burned roughly 75 calories.
  • so when tracking calories burned should I input 500 calories burned into my app or should I subtract the BMR and input 425 calories burned?

Also I guess this is a general question about how most apps measure your calories burned. i.e. do they factor BMR into their calculations already meaning I don't need to

Hi there, so a few days ago I got logged out of the redreader app out of the blue and now I can't log back in. I've tried all the fixes I've seen posted and nothing has worked. Am I just shit out of luck and can now never use to app again? Is there a chance with some time passing something will change and I'll be able to log in again? Or if none of the posted fixes work that's just it? Hoping I can continue using this app somehow.

Thanks a lot

Looking to buy tickets to a single game this upcoming season and trying to understand the process and best way to do it.

Currently on the website each game is listed as 'Public on sale Sept 15'. Yet underneath that it says, 'Official resale Aug 5'. So what does this mean?

Also is the best way to buy tickets through the team website? Should you wait on the website first thing on Sept 15 (or Aug 5) to buy tickets or is that pointless as the games all sell out in 2 seconds anyway?

Please help as my googling has not provided sufficient answers.

Hey all, been looking to make a job change recently and $30/HR looks to be the minimum to be able to build some sort of life in the city. What jobs pay in this range and what qualifications are required? Going back to school is on the table but dependent on expense etc.

Thanks

Just wanted to give a movie recommendation to Last of Us fans. Apart from being a fun, well made, old man action film starring Denzel Washington, The Equalizer 2, bears a striking resemblance to The Last of Us (both the game and the show). Without spoiling anything for those who haven't seen the movie, the third act is where the movie makes the Last of Us connection. It honestly could have been a level from the games or an episode from the show, and given the cast it's also a little surprising it came out in 2018 well before the show was in production. So if you're into the old man action genre and maybe want something with a bit of Last of Us flair you can't go wrong with The Equalizer 2.

Does anyone have any clear info on when this movie is getting released to more cities? It seems each week there are notices that this is the week the movie finally gets a wide released. January 19th being the most recent of these and I just noticed the movie is now in a whopping 82 theatres North America wide. I'd really love to get to see this on the big screen but I just don't understand the release strategy. Are they waiting until after the Oscars to give it a proper release? I haven't been able to find any info and was hoping someone out there might have heard something so I can properly align my hopes haha. Thanks

The reaction shots of the panel during video playback. I noticed they stopped doing this around series 6 or 7. In the later series I found myself wishing I could see how the rest of the panel was reacting to some of the crazy stuff they were seeing on the big screen. I really appreciate that in the older series they would occasionally cut to a few panelists laughing, or guffawing, or just staring in awe. I wouldn't want this done during every task but there are some that are so entertaining that I think it adds to the sense of collective joy to see your own reaction reflected in the panelists in real time.

Bring back the (occasional) insert shot!
