For people who do 2+ days of barbell strength training while running 50+ mpw, what does your weekly schedule look like? Especially if you're running 2 workouts and a long run each week.

Context: male, averaged 35-40mpw year round for past 5 years, with brief periods in the 50-60mpw range, but wanting to be able to sustain that longer term. Started weight lifting to try and address recurring hip/low back tightness and weakness that frequently gets in the way of running and life, and also to just be a more well rounded athlete. I don't feel fast enough to be as weak as I am haha.

Lately my strength training has looked like this (warmup then 3x5 on the barbell lifts):

I don't know about anyone else, but for some reason I have a sinking feeling about a recession in the next few years. Currently have most of my funds in C. Would it make sense to switch these to G or another fund? Maybe switch existing funds but keep my incoming payments going into C to buy low?

Hey, I'm an ice coaster (philly) who is currently riding a GNU Headspace, really like it for park and generally messing around on the mountain. Taking my first trip out west this year (a week in CO in february), and thinking about getting a new board to bring instead of the headspace that would cover its gaps, and be fun no matter the conditions, anywhere except the park. I'm an intermediate rider, would like to progress my carving and try out some tree runs and powder out west if I'm lucky enough, have pretty much no experience in that department.

I do a lot of riding with my wife who is a beginner, so looking for something that doesn't need to be 100% charging all the time, but can hold i

Hey, does anyone have more detail on what the final report should look like for this? In the first lecture he basically said just a literature review + summary but no info on format, length, etc. But going through the later lectures that were recorded (last one on 11/8) I haven't seen anything else, and courseworks has nothing. ik it's a 0 credit p/f degree requirement so it probably doesn't have to be too crazy, but literally any other info would be helpful...if not I'll just try and get a draft together in the next week and ask him what he thinks about it I guess.

Also the first announcement says to record a presentation? What?

Tempo runs and cruise intervals are pretty ubiquitous ways of threshold training that we all come across and talk about, but lately I've been thinking about how tempos seem to be kind of over-emphasized in the west compared to other regions or types of endurance sports.

For instance, east african runners don't really seem to do tempos, but instead do long fartleks (traininkenya, nate runs) that basically amount to 40-60 minutes of alternating fast intervals above LT with relatively fast recoveries at a moderate pace. Along with more structur

Greetings, I am Jim Beam, PhD in Heavy Breathing and coach of thousands of successful athletes, from middle-aged men running sub-6hr marathons in an attempt to change their lives, to middle-aged women running sub-6hr marathons in an attempt to change their lives. By carefully following my training advice and principles, you too can join their ranks as a Real Runner ™.

Part 1: Training Principles

The foundation of success in long-distance running races is SLOW RUNNING. A 5k marathon will require you to be on your feet for hours on end, and push you to your absolute limit, so cultivating the raw endurance necessary to keep shuffling despite crippling shin splints and nipple chafing is esse

You wake up at 3:14 am, stumble out to the kitchen bleary eyed and set up your camera in the cupboard. 18 minutes later after multiple takes you finally sit down with your coffee and bobo bar. As you try and choke it down, your mouth drier than the Sahara, you gaze past the blinking red light and inky black lens and think "God I can't remember the last time I ate something without that thing pointed at my face".

A few hours later and it's time to run, so you hop in the car and drive downtown. Not without stopping and starting multiple times to set up the camera, and get some drone footage of you driving in the suburbs, of course. You live minutes from some of the most beautiful parks in the

Hey Loser,

Today at 12:34 PM, Richard McGoober absolutely demolished your long-standing record of most segment efforts on "Disgusting crack alley (final 10m sprint!!)" in the past 90 days. Your pathetic 27 efforts are nothing in comparison to his huge throbbing 29 efforts. He basically took out your little boy dick and jerked it off for everybody to see.

Remember when you used to be somebody? When you would run down "Disgusting crack alley (final 10m sprint!!)" and people would turn to each other and whisper to each other "wow, who is that majestic creature galloping past us?", "oh don't you know, he's a local legend 'round these parts". Those times are gone now. All that's left is a sad

Hey, I want to race a few trail 10ks this spring, and one in particular has about 1300ft elevation gain, hoping to get some advice for how to prepare. Most of that elevation is in two climbs and descents: one gains/loses 500ft in about a mile, and the other gains/loses 500ft in even less, like 2/3 a mile. Otherwise it looks flat-ish/rolling hills.

If it was a longer race I would definitely hike the ups and run carefully down, and just practice doing that during long runs. But since its a short race I want to really push it, but not sure if its reasonable or efficient to expect to run the whole thing. For reference I am in 40' 10k shape on the roads, and am pretty comfortable with steep tech

Background

I ran and cycled a few times a week recreationally but never actually trained until signing up for the 2019 philly marathon 2.5 years ago. I ended up getting ITBS and missing a month after ramping up to 35-40mpw too fast, and ran the half instead in 1:43. Since then (or really april 2020

  • I kept waiting for space twink and aquaman to make out but they never did, -2 points
  • If you told me the dream sequences were just taken from a perfume commercial I would believe you, -1 point
  • You barely get to see the worms at all, making you wait til the end just to see his wormface, -1 point
  • There wasn't a single snappy one liner to break the tension, -1 point
  • I liked the floating fat guy, +1 point

If I had to describe how I felt during 90% of the movie I would say "bored" and "confused". Solid 6/10
