10 > The pre-show mix. Seriously. That long collage is awesome. Also the I.L.Y.'s sound so much better on a massive speaker system.

9 > To the four people I saw ODing at different points in the night --- I hope you're all OK.

8 > Being doused in several beer waterfalls from the upper balcony.

7 > The entire room jumping in unison to the beat of Inanimate Sensation and Hacker.

6 > Seeing Ride bend so far backward and forward in rapid succession I thought he'd snap in half. This was during Up My Sleeves I think? IDK, much of their set is a blur. At any rate, he's one graceful and limber motherfucker.

So in all the posted pics of TPTB on CD... I never saw the amazing Marilyn Monroe window art. What happened? Did it not make the cut?

TBH, the CD layout looks like a bit of a mess with only NOTM's art and a totally blank page. Am I just missing something here?

Go on: play 30 seconds of each track on NOTM, then listen to the JD previews in the right order. Share your thoughts.

So far I'm really digging this contrast: one sounds like outer space cyber rap, the other sounds like a space ship carrying said cyber race crashed into a sports stadium in the middle of a game and all hell broke loose. I can also hear some continuity, particularly on Mirrors and DG2.0.

Don't forget: it's not all about JD. This is a double album, and it's going to be amazing.

I was thinking about this after re-reading the SPIN artist of the year article, and I was curious about the band's current circumstances. So...

If a tell all biography about Death Grips could be published 20 years from now, would you want that? Or do you think it would ruin the band's "mystique?"

Also: what would that biography be called?

Death Grip 1.0?

Artificial Death In the West?

Whatever I Want (Fuck Who's Reading)?

This semester I'm teaching a course on modern poetry, and toward the end I want to do an assignment where my students analyze song lyrics. There will be several songs to choose from, but I'd like to pick a Death Grips track for one of the possible choices. Which track should I choose? Right now I'm leaning toward "Get Got" or "I've Seen Footage." I'm open to suggestions, however.

Since lyrics aren't available for NOTM yet, I'd like to stay away from that album for now.

EDIT:

So far "Birds" (6 votes) is the most popular choice here, followed by "Get Got," "No Love," and "Inanimate Sensation" (all tied w/ 3 votes).

NOTE: THIS ISN'T ABOUT WHETHER YOU THINK JD WILL DROP THIS YEAR OR NOT. IT'S A "WHAT IF" TYPE THING.

For the sake of argument, let's assume: 1.) Jenny isn't coming this year, and 2.) the Amazon release dates are correct.

Do you think Harvest could have something to do with this? The full extent of the Epic aftermath has never been publicly known, so perhaps The Powers That B is in some way related to DG deciding to cooperate. Perhaps they promised to eventually deliver a record to Harvest for some reason or another, and now that it's in Harvest's hands, DG are choosing to remain silent as Harvest delays it until Feb. Also part of this deal could entail no free digital release in advanc

  1. Obsessively check a2b2, Third Worlds, and Harvest.
  2. Argue on the Internet over whether it's even coming out or not.
  3. Sell your copy of Ex-Military. You'll be able to pay for a lot of diversions.
  4. Recreate the "Come Up & Get Me" video: hide behind curtains, eat flowers, float in a pool.
  5. Be truly noided: keep daily logs of who walks by your home.
  6. Create a shrine to Stefan in your closet.
  7. Burn copies of DG's music and leave them in public places for people to find.
  8. Listen to all of Fyre's back catalog.
  9. Listen to all the good new music coming out this month and the next (Aphex Twin, Zola Jesus, etc.).
  10. Post in this thread with your own top 10 list (this one goes in

How many of you actually used that big pill sticker that came with The Money Store? If so: to what was it attached?

I'm too much of an OCD collector type to actually use it.
