I've had a game idea formulating in my head for a couple years now and I've just started implementing some stuff for it. The idea is essentially similar in control/interface to Dwarf Fortress (You place orders which may or may not be followed, designate construction, etc), but managing a large-scale war roughly similar to the eastern front in WWI. I'm mostly interested in exploring the logistics and command issues that would occur in a static, positional war. I know DF isn't really a roguelike, but there's no r/dwarffortresslikedev. I'm an experienced programmer but haven't worked on any games since I made some Flash games as a teenager.

I don't mind that this game has an absurd scale and

Earlier today I looked at a 2012 RAM 1500. It has 80k miles on it and is being sold for $17k, which is about the same price as other trucks with 130k+ miles on them in the area. There is a decent amount of cosmetic damage, which is fine by me. The car history had nothing on it and was bought at an auction.

I noticed a few red flags though:

  • The roof liner is almost definitely new, the floor looks new and is a water-proof plasticy material

  • They forgot to clean the DC outlet, and there was a thin layer of dirt on the inside of the cover and in the outlet that looked a lot like dried muddy water

  • The engine and other major components looked well-cleaned...Many of the tubes and conduits

I recently moved here from the Midwest, where hiking alone is basically no problem. How worried should I be about bears and mountain lions? Is there any other wildlife that poses a major threat in the area?

Does anyone know groups that hike regularly?

I've looked a number of times and never really found a good solution for this. I don't like drilling metal and I'm not good at making it look perfect.

I recently built a CNC machine for someone else. I'm considering building a CNC mill for this purpose. Two questions: Does anyone know of a good place to get custom-drilled faceplates? Would anyone be interested in a faceplate service? (If so, what would you expect the price to be?)

I struggle a lot with rolling out of bed in the morning. The twisting of my spine as I roll really starts the day off poorly.

I'm thinking about hanging a chain or bar above my bed, for pulling myself up. It would be more work than rolling but the pressure on the spine would be balanced. Has anyone tried anything like this? Or any kind of handle for getting out of/moving around the bed?

I dont think ive seen any threads like this. I'm currently renovating a house and wondering if anyone has found any features useful to build into a house for AS. Its all 1 floor, and I'm trying to keep everything a couple feet off the ground.

I've been considering hanging a rope above my bed, so that I can pull myself up in the morning instead of rolling out of bed. It will be more work, but hopefully less stress on my spine. Does anyone have experience with this kind of solution?

I'd like to use something like Max MSP or Supercollider as a CV source for my euro rack synth.

I've seen the Expert Sleepers modules which seem to be perfectly suited for this application, but I'm curious about hacking this together with what I have.

I have a mini dsp udac8. Will this be able to output to my modular, or will the level be too low? What do I need to consider when looking at DACs? Will audio interfaces in general (such as the focusrite 18i20) be capable of outputting CV at the levels needed?
