Original post.

Thank you all so much for the generosity you’ve shown myself, my baby, and my family.

I went to my parent’s house a few days ago and there was a large stack of brown boxes from Amazon next to the door. My mother was completely blown away. She kept saying she “couldn’t believe how kind strangers could be” every time I opened another box. Because of our financial situation, we will be moving in with my parents in the next two weeks for a short while so my mother can help with the newborn and me (high risk pregnancy, lots of issues with mobility, etc.) while we work to get ba

First off, I’d like to say thank you for being in this subreddit in the first place. I don’t expect or plan on anything coming from this, but telling our story in and of itself will be therapeutic and that means that you, dear reader, are already helping by reading these words.

My husband and I have been together for a little over four years. We’ve always had a very positive, robust relationship. We’ve been successful. I traditionally work in digital marketing as an analyst and copywriter. He works full time as a produce clerk at a local grocery store while finishing his graphic/web design degree at the same time. There’s a lot of love between us, and there always has been.

I just need to vent a little bit, and I know that all you ladies (and gentlemen) are amazing and patient with things like this, so thank you in advance.

Let me start by saying that in many ways I am blessed. I have an incredible husband and a very open and supportive family. A brief background to why I’m feeling the way I am currently is probably needed, so… my husband and I have been together for about four years. For most of that time I have been the main bread winner in our family – he worked hard, I just got luckier with my salaries. I’m a digital marketer and copywriter by trade and agency life has, for the most part, been kind to me. We got pregnant for the first time at the beginning

Hey, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm Sam. 23. Newly married, currently unemployed, and somewhere between eight and twelve weeks pregnant with a oh so very unplanned little fruity pebble. I am horrible at tracking my cycles and unemployment has this way of making time and space fade away to the point where you find yourself nonplussed when someone tells you it's a Tuesday when you had thought it was Thursday. Our first official OB appointment is next Wednesday so we'll know how far along we are then.

I briefly visited this subreddit two years ago. This Tuesday will be the two year anniversary of the lost of my and my husband's (then boyfriend) first daughter, Alice. She had a congenital heart def

Is that common?

I'm not really super worried about getting presents, but it seemed peculiar that only one person who is attending has bought anything from our Amazon registry. We have an Etsy one with a few things missing (but it's a wishlist and not a registry so there is no guarantee those things were even purchased in conjunction with our wedding) and a Target one that nothing has been purchased off of. With almost 150 people attending it just seemed weird. I was just curious.

Is that common? Our wedding is this Saturday. We're kind of kooky so maybe a bunch of people are going off-registry OR no one wants to get us anything. Ha ha.
