Hey everyone, I was recently upgraded about almost a month ago and still haven’t heard anything about my placement or, more importantly, when I’d be leaving. I just wanted to check in if anyone knows how long I’d be awaiting to hear back. I did send an email asking for any kind of estimate date but I still haven’t heard anything. It would be nice to know how much time I have to prep but also to inform my current job when they need to prepare for my leave, (context: I run children’s programs and they want to know when to find my replacement). Any advice as well is welcomed, thanks!

Hi everyone,
I got an email today from the JET office about info regarding the Pre-Departure orientation. I am a bit confused because I was not shortlisted, got alternate, and was wondering if both shortlisted and alternatives get invited to the orientation. I did email asking about it but I've yet to have gotten a response back so thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to apply for jet this fall, however I'm struggling with figuring out who I can use for my references. I am a recent university graduate however I never really connected with any of my professors or at least with professors that would be willing to write a reference letter. So far I have my boss at work as a reference but I'm wondering if I can also use a co-worker as well or if I need to branch out somewhere else. I'd appreciate the help, thanks!

Despite being out for about 5 years now (plus having top surgery) I struggle greatly with finding clothes. I’m a 5’6 guy who normally wears medium to large sized clothing but I feel my options for retail places are very limited. Every time I see others asking for similar advice, pretty much everyone says Thrift stores but in my area (Canada, Manitoba) are either filled with the same polo and golf shirts or sweat stained clothing. Wanted to know if anyone had any other recommendations, doesn’t matter if it’s an online retail or not (plus not crazy expensive). Thanks!

It's been nearly 3 years since he passed and to this day I keep finding out new information about him. It could be about his life or character that I never knew or worst of all it could be his thoughts or perception of me. A year after his death I met one of his friends that I never knew about and when I told him my name he said "oh wow. You're brother has talked a lot about you, he was so proud and amazed by you" and I just fucking breakdown in front of this stranger. I often felt outcasted from my family due to me being the youngest and having different interests, honestly I thought he didn't know anything about me so it sucked to find out I actually meant something to him. A couple months

It's been 3 months since my eldest brother took his life. I unfortunately don't think I've been able to process it completely or even at all. Usually I'm decently motivated to stick to my normal daily routines but I haven't felt the same since March. My guess is that I'm not able to process his death whatsoever. I've been told that it can take awhile but I still haven't even processed his wife's death and that was 2 years ago. Honestly just looking for tips, or insights, advice? Anything really

I lost my brother to suicide almost a month ago but it either feels like it's been a never ending day or 30 years have past. I still haven't been able to get back into my usual rhythm and work routine. My brain feels fuzzy like I'm just in a constant state of dreaming and nothing is real. I've somewhat been able to distract myself but something will still feel off. I don't know what to do or how I'm really feeling

Thoughts on Grief/Loss

I lost my eldest brother a couple of days ago to suicide. It's so confusing cause I thought of him as the guy who had everything. He was the golden child and honestly my mother's favorite kid. We never knew of any sort of emotions he was feeling, he was a very closed off guy. I struggle with chronic depression and other mental health disorders but even I couldn't understand why exactly he did this. He left with no note, we're still unsure about the motive that led to him doing this too. It's been 4 days already and I can't process that he's actually gone. There's so much I want to say about him but I don't know what to do or how to carry on with it.
