I'm planning my first oneshot and I want my players to be level 8 with magic items (of course). My plan for the magic items was that I'd give them 3 of their choice, two uncommon/common and one rare. I'd let them roll a d20 and if they roll 18-20 I'd let them pick a legendary in place of the rare. Does this make sense to do? How do you usually handle giving magical items for a oneshot?

I have been playing D&D for a while myself but always as a player, I will soon be a first time DM for a group of 6 players that are all new.

After looking at different campaigns I found some things saying Storm King's Thunder is a fun one and can be good for newer DMs. Though looking at the book it looks like the players will fly through the first 4 or 5 levels which feels kinda fast moving for a new group so I was thinking about getting either LMoP or DoIP to have a more full low level experience for my new group before jumping in to the larger adventure of SKT.

Does anyone have advice on which of these two smaller campaigns would be best for my situation? It seems like both are well

I read this book a long time ago so the details I have are fuzzy. As far as I recall it was about a teenage boy in the real world present day and he found an old book or scroll in his relatives basement (father or uncle maybe?) and when he reads it he gets transported into a fantasy realm where he becomes a knight I think. I believe there were two more kids, a boy and girl that were possibly his friends, that somehow get transported into the fantasy world as well. I'm pretty sure it was a trilogy of books and I think the first one had like a stone doorway opened to a sprawling landscape and a sword leaned against the frame.

I'm on episode 7 of season 2 of the show on Netflix and I'm really enjoying it, though I have never read the books. I was just curious how faitful of an adaptation the Netflix show has been so far as I've never seen an adaptation like this attempted before and it seems like they are getting a lot of details fit into the show thanks to the whole 2 episodes per book formatt.

Also as a bonus question would you recommend reading the books, like should I try to read the series before the last season comes out as to avoid possibly ruining the reading of the books.

Thanks for any feedback!

Edit: I guess the real point of this is I was trying to figure out just how much of the story I am missing

I finished brotherhood like a month ago and haven't yet watched 03 but I plan to. I really want to read the manga as well and I was just wondering where the best place to buy the complete set. I've looked on Amazon but it didn't seem official if that makes any sense. Thanks in advance for any help!
