This is renting in London Zone 2, for perspective. I've always found London's rental agencies to be really unpleasant to deal with but I'm totally stunned at what's being asked of me by my most recent estate agents.

I moved into a house share with 3 others in July 2015.

In April 2016 I decided that I wanted to move out and not renew my part of the tenancy agreement. I found a good replacement who underwent (and paid for) all the necessary referencing two months before the contract expiry. I then continued to pay rent until the expiration of the original agreement. All good so far.

As part of the contract renewal, each remaining tenant paid 90 pounds, and the new tenant (my replacement) pa

So here is an illustration of what I'm talking about:

For 1H spectra: I understand that the 2-position is most heavily deshielded, then the 4-position, and lastly the 3-position is more shielded than the rest. This is perfectly reflected in the 1H NMR spectra of these kinds of compounds.

But then, why do the 13C spectra follow this general pattern?: http://i.imgur.com/OKaB134.png

Why are C2 and C3 shifted to almost identical values? Why is C4 so far downfield?

I found a this part explanation:

13C Chemical Shifts. In contrast, this induced ring current does not affect the 13C δ values

I'm a fair way into my Chemistry degree now, and I'm becoming somewhat irritated by the perpetual cycle of learning everything, becoming awesome for exams, then gradually forgetting things again only to start over again.

I'm looking for a good book, website, or whatever you please, to help me practice organic retrosynthesis and structure resolution problems in my spare time. Does anyone know any good resources to this end?

Thanks!

Australian summer, that is.

I'm studying abroad at the University of Sydney, and I'm really anxious to spend my summer here working in a lab - preferably a university research lab - to prepare me for my master's year back in London.

On the advice of the first lecturer I've met here this morning, I'm currently going through, and shortlisting professors whose research topics interest me. I'll probably email them this evening so that my query is sitting pretty in their respective inboxes on Tuesday morning, then read a selection of papers from those who reply to me to familiarise myself better with their work.

Has anyone here done anything similar? Does this sound like the right way to go

The question says it all, I'm simply wondering why the unimpeded motion of electrons in superconductors wouldn't be an example of perpetual motion, because I imagine that would be... rather silly. All I can find through google are phrases such as "This is the closest known thing to perpetual motion" and so on, which give a half-answer without any sort of explanation.

Thanks!

I've been keeping a close eye on this sub for a long time waiting for news to break on ticket sales, but today while browsing Odeon's London IMAX section for Skyfall tickets, I happened to notice that they were selling tickets for The Hobbit! Nabbed a pre-release screening on the 13th with excellent seats for me plus four!

I hope I wasn't the only one not to know this, and that this post helps a bunch of you.

I'm fairly new to the city; been studying and living here since September. I'm looking for a fairly decent £100 to £200 suit for a few formal summer events as well as a friend's wedding in July.

I'm not sure I want a suit from a department store, but I'm fairly new to shopping for this kind of thing, so was wondering if a taylor is a reasonable expectation within my budget - but more importantly where exactly do I go?

Any help from you guys is very much appreciated!

Two problems, not sure if they're related. Here goes.

So I can't seem to get out of Hidden Village. I know what you're supposed to do.. that is, there's a path leading south to Route 6, according to countless youtube videos, but it's just not there on my ROM. I've tried patching a clean ROM with the 3.6.1 .ips but still have the same problem.

The environment looks different on my game - the trees, gym buildings, etc. The level design for Hidden Village is completely different to the youtube clips. Was this all redesigned, or have I done something wrong? I'm emulating the game via No$GBA, and using a patched version of FireRed(USA). I've even tried downloading a pre-patched ROM.. twice.

Of course it's not footage from the Hobbit, if my title seemed to have suggested that to anyone.

Redditor j0z yesterday posted this link to a compressed set of two video files (~195mb) both shot on the same RED cameras as those being used on the set of The Hobbit; one was shot at 24fps and the other at 48fps.

So before making conclusions based on a plethora of negative reviews, see some evidence for yourselves. I quite like it, but I expect you guys will have a range of opinions, so fire away!
