26M. I can usually manage the first date pretty well, but I tend to keep it relatively short - basically just a first meeting to get to know each other a little, see what kind of person she is, whether we click, and whether it makes sense to meet again.

If I actually like her and enjoy her company, I usually try to plan something longer and more interesting for the second date.

The problem is that regardless of what we do, once a date starts going past roughly three hours, I can feel my social battery running out. And this isn’t really a dating-specific thing. The same thing happens when I’m hanging out one-on-one with male friends (not the closest ones ofc).

At some point I start feeling

Hi everyone, please help me figure out where this extra Amenity is coming from.

Luxuries make sense, but I can’t understand the “from Civics: 1”. As far as I know, civics themselves don’t directly give Amenities. I assumed it might be a policy card or the government itself, but I double-checked: none of my slotted policies mention Amenities, and my government doesn’t seem to be providing one either.

Context: Renaissance era, playing as USA, government is Monarchy.

What are the usual sources that get counted under “Civics” here?

Hi everyone!

I have a question about pub etiquette.

I really want to experience Irish pub culture, have a pint, listen to the atmosphere. The thing is, I'm travelling alone, and I'm quite introverted. Big crowds of strangers can be a bit overwhelming for me.

In some countries I've been to, pretty much everyone in bars is in groups, and sitting alone with a drink can feel a bit "sad" or out of place. So I wanted to ask locals:

Is it normal in Dublin to go to a pub alone and just have a drink by yourself? Will people think it’s weird or give you strange looks, or is it totally fine? Where is better to sit if you’re solo, at the bar, or is it okay to take a small table? Any tips on how to i

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find a centralized resource that collects best practices for quenching common reagents in an organic lab.

Quenching isn't always trivial "just add iPrOH dropwise at 0 ºC". A recent example for me was learning that POCl₃ is safest quenched under warm basic conditions. Counterintuitive, and made me realize how many of these cases are more nuanced than the quick rules we learn.

What I'm hoping exists is a website, database, book that actually accumulates this kind of knowledge. Would be cool if with rationale and references. I'm aware of "Bretherick’s Handbook" but it's not quite exactly what I'm looking for.

I keep getting hooked by that town-hall/cathedral bell chime sound in songs. Example: Sofie Royer - "I Forget (I’m So Young)" (album version), the part around 1:38-2:05. That section totally sold me.

How do I find more tracks that use that sound? Any search terms/tags I should try or playlists to follow? How common is it overall?

Not looking for religious or Christmas music, just regular pop/indie/electronic with that element. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I’m working with copper(I) bromide. I’ve got a bottle in the lab that says “packed under argon” but it’s been sitting around opened for a while, and any protective argon is long gone by now. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a glovebox or argon chamber. What I do have is a Schlenk line, a pretty old desiccator (not vacuum-connected), and the usual fume hood setup.

I’ll need to weigh it out in air, so new exposure is inevitable. But I’d like to minimize oxidation to Cu(II) as much as possible.

Would it help to flush the bottle headspace with argon before sealing it again? I was thinking: weigh it quickly, then flush gently with argon (trying not to disturb the solid), clo

I’ve been texting with someone who pretends to listen to my voice messages, they answer things like “thank youuu!” or just react with an emoji, but never respond to the actual content. As you can see, it shows “played” is not activated, and the microphone icon in the chat stays gray. So I’m wondering: are they actually not listening and just gaslighting me? Or could it be a glitch or something to do with their privacy settings?

Hey everyone, this might sound weird, but I’ve been thinking seriously about joining a religion or a similar kind of structured community. I’m not looking for a faith in the traditional sense, more like something that offers a solid philosophy, moral guidance, a sense of belonging, rituals, and a connection to something bigger and historic. Something with a vibe, you know?

For example, I find some aspects of Mormonism really appealing. The formal dress, the politeness, the weekly gatherings, the strong internal community, it all gives off this cult-like structure (in a positive way) that I actually admire. I’ve heard stories of how they’re so universally known for being peaceful and nice th
