Hey everyone,

I’m a programmer based in the UK, looking for a pixel artist to join me in a hobby project that we can work on in our spare time over the next few months. Ideally, I’m looking for someone in a similar time zone (UK or close) so we can coordinate more easily.

This is very much a passion project, not a commercial venture. My goal is to create a basic game loop we can be happy with and eventually publish to itch.io. From there, we can re-evaluate how we work together and whether we want to take the game further.

I’ve worked on a few hobby projects and game jams before, but this will be my first attempt at something more substantial. I’m looking for a collaborative partner w

Maybe this is a silly question, so forgive me if it is, does it make a difference to your score if you use new balls consistently?

I'm a high handicapper, 20 probably get to about 15 this season (just started back afte a couple of year hiatus), and I've only ever used lake balls.

Should I buy new balls and use the same type every time? Or will it not really make a difference to my score?

I'm pretty new to marketing.... I say new but I've never done any so I'm not sure I even count as new.

Anyway, has anyone here completely ignored twitter, YouTube, etc. (Not saying you should) AND had release success with their game? (Success being sales, installs, etc.)

If so, how? Was it all just organic from the platform? Paid advertising?

If you got a publisher then did you approach them?

Basically I'm wondering what I can do for my next game to give it a chance of being picked up by someone outside of social media?

I'm solo and don't have the funds for paid advertising so I'm searching for other ways to generate interest.

I'm a solo game dev... By that I mean I'm a solo developer who wants to make games but haven't quite gotten there yet. The biggest challenge I always face is art and music.

I have spent a lot of time working on improving my ability to draw, create pixel art, blender, and piano. I definitely want to get to the point where I create a game with my own art and music at some point.

My question is what is the community here actually doing? When I watch YouTube videos I see a lot of developers day, "Don't do everything yourself" but then in the same breath they will talk about how they have learned pixel art or modelling to make their own assets.

What is the real world like? Is YouTube giving me

I am a serial quitter. I have more projects started in Unity and scrapped after a week than I've probably played games in the last 5 years. To be honest it's amazing I still even try but I've finally actually finished one!

I know for a lot of people this won't be a big deal and taking part in a game jam is something that people will have done lots but for me it has always been daunting. As I said, I never finish a game when I have as long as I want to do it so how could I take part in a game jam where you have a limited amount of time?

I really wanted to show the game off somewhere because you know.... why not? And with my track record I might never finish a game again.

If anyone is inter

I'm a new writer and would like to find maybe 5-6 people who would like to participate in a writing group.

Hoping that we can take turns submitting chapters and getting some feedback on a weekly basis.

I was thinking having a discord server where we can set a time for weekly submissions and then take some time to give feedback.

I've very new to writing, I've done some small pieces in the past but I think a writing group may be the best way to quickly improve.

If there's any groups out there or a group of people that would be willing to join together then that would be great.

EDIT: Wow, this was a crazy response. I'm having a look at the info that has been posted by some mods in reply.

I haven't written anything for years, probably over ten years. So I've been a little nervous about showing anything to anyone.

I have always been a nervous/shy sort and I've been considering showing some pieces to people for a while but have always chickened out, that's basically why I thought I should put this up here and ask for some kind of feedback, mainly to get over the fear of showing my stuff to people.

So yeah, I appreciate the effort anyone puts into reading this and giving me any kind of feedback.

It's a short intro paragraph to a character in a fantasy story I'm writing. I've been outlining a lot for the story and have just started writing some short chapters for the three
