Hello r/criticaltheory members. Due to a recent spate of contentious and non-productive threads regarding the ongoing military conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the mods have decided to implement an indefinite–but temporary–moratorium on any and all posting regarding Israel-Palestine. This is–to be clear–not meant to indicate a stance, but has solely to do with this topic posing serious issues for us as moderators to maintain a collegial environment which fosters meaningful conversation and not just mudslinging and hostility which does not consist of critical theory. We of course recognize that this is bound to be a contentious decision on our part and do invite feedback or suggestio

I am reading François Laruelle’s Biography of Ordinary Man and, in the final section he deals with pragmatics and seems to be drawing largely from Wittgenstein (with regards to the latter’s conception of games and “use”) with whom I’m entirely unfamiliar. Laruelle makes the claim that in standard philosophical accounts, pragmateia and pragmata are necessarily linked. I’ve tried going through wiktionary and some other resources but I’m still at a loss for: what these two terms refer to individually, and how they relate.
I remember watching their KEXP appearance years ago but haven’t seen anything since. Any other related projects?
Re-reading the series and this time adding in the ICE book. I’ve just come to the part where Kiska is traveling through Thyr, with Corinn, to the Deadhouse and gets diverted to Shadow where she (re)encounters Edgewalker. He makes reference to the glacier encroaching on Shadow which, earlier in the book, was described as green (somewhat curiously as emerald rather than jade). He explains to Kiska that this glacier is “the more deadly threat [compared to K&D attempting to take the throne of shadow, and that] it is being resisted.” Am I right that this is some artifact of the Crippled God’s, somehow lodged in the Warrens? Edgewalker surmises that it may be Jaghut-related, presumably due to
