I am Lestan, the dhampir. I was an aspiring musician and an avid uku-lute player when my life changed forever. Something I could only dream about came true: a vampire bit me, yes, a real vampire. They say vampires are cursed with their Dark Gift. Well, personally, I don’t feel cursed much. I’ve embraced it, which only helps my musical career. And what a career it is!

Recently I moved to the most chic place that gained popularity of late, the city of Everfall. You might be thinking, Everfall? Popular? Never heard of it. Oh, but you have, everyone and everything is flowing to Everfall; or if you haven’t yet, you will, because I will mark it with my art and music.

*Sadly, these days even

Chapter I: Certain Ill-Advised Activities Conducted In Some Of The Worst Places Ever Visited.

Have you ever been to a place that made you question the judgement of the people who decided to settle there? Because I can tell you, dear reader, that the town of Vardrosk is certainly one of these places. Having decided I should earn my keep with actions instead of words for once, I signed up for my first official quest at the Adventurers' Guild in the grand city of Everfall, and oh boy it a doozy.

It started with

“Damm that guard! Tropical island my ass, it's freezing out here. I'll need to get that fellow's name so I can file a complaint.”  Rylanor thought, not happy to have prepared for a tropical island, only to end up on a frozen rock in the middle of the ocean. Walking out of what was once the arrival chamber for the portal to Isla Fidelno, putting the lodestone in his satchel. “I need to ask someone how these things work, although teleportation at this distance is still beyond me.” Terrance huddles deeper into my cloak mimicking my opinion on the current climate. Right, so it all started yesterday. I show up at the Adventurer’s Guild to register and offered to start with a less popular Quest, just to help out the Guild a bit. I got directed to a Jeffrey, who seems to be the contact for some community college in Everfall, that needs a party to help them.

This morning, I arrive to meet Jeffrey. 5 other fresh adventurers are also waiting there, presumably assigned this job by the Guild. Jeffrey explains that something went wrong with th

So, here’s the hay. 2 friends and I get an important mission from Morgan, one of the governors of the city. Think old Bernie, but then for a city of hundreds of thousands of people. Maybe it’s bett

Bathelen Customs and Traditions --- An Anthropological Analysis

By Victor Sconfitto, Arcane Collegia of Everfall

Abstract

The nation of Bathel, with its significant populace that follows the Bathelen Great Temple's guidance in the person of the Grand Poobah, is a classical example in the study of organized religion and its relationships with secular leadership. Due to the recent and unfortunate boating accident of the old Grand Poobah, more research data was gathered during the Hole-y Procession's visit to Lioneye's Watch.

My Silver Blossom,

I did not sleep well the night Olea returned to me. The loss of you, the meeting with our supposed savior, the Prince who revels in our suffering. I could hear his words echo in my mind, carried by the melodies of a thousand birds. Olea's still his, he says. A deal we struck, he says.
Olea is different now, as though absent from her own mind for most of the day. It's difficult to see her like this, though I suppose that's what the Prince desires. For the first time, I did not know what to do with her. How to bring her light back to the surface. Nor could I find my own, knowing what you gave to bring her back. I could not think. I could not let Olea see me doubt her

Through your crimson eye, I see.

The estate stands like a beast with velvet skin and teeth of gold. Beautiful from afar, brutal beneath the surface. You knew this. You knew the moment Snap recoiled from the air around it, his wings twitching with pain. The dome is not for show. It bites.

"Ah," I whispered into the space behind your ribs, "he hides more than gold and ledgers, doesn’t he?"

The others cannot hear me. But you do. You always do.

You watched the pain ripple through your familiar, and though your hand trembled, your face did not.

That is why you are mine.
