Coffee shop boy
You were my coffee shop lover.
Our eyes nervously finding each other,
From the comfort of our tables.
Our drinks drain over the hours.
I look forward to our weekly ‘meetings’.
Where we pass by one another,
Without sharing a word.
What an odd predicament.
I don’t know your name.
“Coffee shop boy” is what I call you,
When I write about you in my journal,
And divulge how you make me feel.
I fantasize about us being a couple,
Where we go to the coffee shop together.
I fantasize about you holding my small hands.
I wonder if yours are soft?
But habits change.
People stop going to coffee shops,
When they have no need to.
Your table sits empty each week.
I know that there is no reason for me to feel sad.
We were nameless strangers,
Who only shared a couple of glances.
But I was in love with the person I thought you were.
I miss you.

What a powerful poem! I love the feeling of longing for something that was never really there. I've certainly experienced this, and having something be so close and yet so out of reach really speaks to me.
I think I'd remove the quotations around 'Meeting' because the implication that the meeting isn't a true meeting is expanded upon in the stanza and in the rest of the poem. It pulled e out a bit.
Fantastic poem!
Thank you! And thank you for the suggestion!
