[2691] A Portal Fantasy - Chapter 3

This is chapter 3 of a portal fantasy. Chapter 3 is the second chapter from the perspective of one of two main characters. This chapter has her catalyst. I would love feedback on any aspect of the chapter, such as plot, pacing, characters and prose. Chapter 3

Nisha is an obsessive college sprinter who is estranged from her mother. After a failed race, she heads to her grandmother's to borrow a sari for her cousin's wedding. Her grandmother gives her a pair jimikki earrings, which has been passed from oldest daughter to oldest daughter upon wearing their first sari. She is reluctant to accept them but eventually does. They have a strange hold on her. That night she dreams of a boy with a scarred shoulder reaching for the earrings. Chapter 2 is from the perspective on that boy in the fantasy world Nisha will eventually end up in.
