Imagine they take out the mag-7 and bring in this new shotty called SWAG-7 that has same damage&accuracy as the mag-7 but the firerate of the XM?
And the magazine size of a Negev. It would be the most rage inducing patch in the history of patches.
lol didnt they already do something like this with the deagle? o wait
You haven't heard of the recent Sim city patch, have you?
Even compared to the dynamic weapon pricing episode?!
Well they're bringing that back too. The new Swag7 will cost $50.
They should've did that on April Fool's Day.
+100000000000000000000000000000000000
Obligatory _se, silencers, no fog, deagle accuracy buff, glock accuracy nerf post.
Also, sprays.
I heard a rumor that they are adding a Mexican Werewolf mod, where all guns have silencers, and you're forced to use them, and it allows crouch jumping, bunny hopping, endless wall spam, 300 tic servers, +hook binds, matrix mod, extreme running speeds with the scout, terrible-looking map textures so you never confuse an enemy with map surroundings, forced 4:3 res ratio, riot shields, nerfed P90, and 1 shot leg kill with deagle.
They're calling it 2.6
Yeah, that actually sounds better.
1shot leg kill with deagle kills whole team.
Lol'd
I miss riot shields :(.
Dude, no.
But... I actually do want my riot shield back... That was one of my favorite things...
Y'all ready for this?
I am fired up!
Let's roll-oll-oll-oll!

WOHOO PATCH FEVER SILENCER BLAHBLAH
The one night I have parent-teacher conferences the NFL Draft is on and CS gets an update.
I wonder if parents will mind if I bring a laptop...
Your kid is great. Keep it up. Next!
Sure they will.
Release notes April 25, 2013
Shipping “Operation” Payback”
“Operation Payback, “ is a Classic Casual map group made up of seven top-rated Workshop maps on official servers.
Allowed players to invite friends to play “OP” even if they haven’t purchased
Added upgradeable challenge coin, viewable in avatar, that progresses from bronze to silver to gold with play
Radar changes:
Spectators' radar was replaced with a minimap, allowing for better orientation and action-following without resorting to the overview.
When playing competitive or with sv_competitive_official_5v5 set, the minimap will show player hotkey values like the overview map does.
Added convar cl_radar_always_centered ( default 1 ) then when set to 0 makes more efficient use of the radar at the expense of moving the POV away from the center.
Added 2 options to the radar, allowing players to change the scale and orientation. These are exposed in the Game Settings menu, or directly with the cl_radar_scale ( default 0.7 ) and cl_radar_rotate ( default 1 ) convars, respectively.
Added convar cl_radar_icon_scale_min ( default 0.6 ) that allows radar icons to be kept large when the scale is reduced.
Moved the planted bomb icon from below the radar to the timer.
Fixed radar showing above or below on a player when spectating them from chase.
CS:GO Player Profile:
All players can now view other players medals/coins on the in-game Player Profile page.
Friends can now view your wins and Skill Group on your in-game Player Profile page.
You can now view a Player's Profile page by hitting Z (the Command Radio Message key) when spectating that player.
Added a shortcut to view a friend's CS:GO Player Profile page from the main menu friends list.
Added "Disable Autogenerated DM Spawns?" to info_map_parameters entity that allows mapper to specify that no dm spawns should be autogenerated and will be mapper-placed instead.
Added more options for map filtering in server browser:
The default map filter now performs substring matching. (dust will find de_dust2_se, cs_dustyhouse, workshop or fastdl versions of maps, etc.)
A single slash will search for a prefix in the base map name. (/cs will search for all hostage rescue maps)
An asterisk will search for a map name suffix. (*_se will search for any map ending in "_se")
A double slash will search for an exact map name prefix. (///125488374/ will search for the official workshop de_dust2_se. ///official will search for all official workshop non-se maps)
Added support for official cs_militia map workshop id 133256570 to be played as part of dedicated servers workshop collection mapcycle.
I'm so excited for this right now, but I honestly don't know why. Any ideas about what the update will include?
I’ve pinned the current version as an “april_03” beta for those that are running events this weekend and would rather not update.
This means it won't just be misc updates.
oh god, this could be huge... I can't wait!
[deleted]
Yeah, I'm also curious, how long is "tonight" in valve time exactly? anyone know?
Usually its around 10pm EST, I know this because the last season of ESEA right before a big match they would update and it would screw up the esea servers. Could be any time though.
"tonight" in valve time would be around next week.
Mine updated around 7:59 PM EST. 209.7mb worth of stuff
Don't let me down Gabe
God damn it Gabe
when do you think the update will be ready to download? its 22:30 here in germany and i have to get to school tomorrow :D
Anywhere from now till the next 5 hours, or later. Just go to sleep mate.
Yep. The counterstrikes will be there tomorrow.
atm can't connect to any servers...maybe this is it:) or my interwebs is broken...:(
Same, can't join VG dm or my favorite iceworld server :'(
VG dm server best...only thing thats bugging me is the spawn rotation, but then again its funny to kill the same guy 5 times without moving your mouse a bit xD
I pray to the god of spaghetti for silencers and a deagle buff!
Linguinite?
Please include something to take care of the fucking BR problem. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE
...Yeah... BR.... I know what that is...
^^^:c
It says it's a beta update. Will my csgo update normally, or must I opt in for beta updates?
oh i figured it out, yea you do.
You have to opt in for beta updates? From where?
You don't, Valve made current build a 3rd april beta so if somebody hosts event this weekend they won't have to adapt to new changes
It's in properties, under the beta tab. but I guess don't do it for this update.
You only need to opt in for beta updates if you want to continue playing the current (April 3) build of CSGO. That's how I understand it.
OHHH, ook thankyou for the clarification, I almost missed out on the update!
Posted it before, and I'll do it again. Bring back the original Deag. ESEA league matches just aren't as fun without it :'(
Man.. the sound of the Deagle is nostalgic in and of itself...
Sometimes, I play on Valve's Deathmatch servers so I can still win with a deagle :(
[deleted]
Well, its a day late (they usually update on Wed) so I assume its bigger than usual and not just the usual bugfixes
I have a dream brothers and sisters:
#9. Dinosaurs
Slightly optimistic there bro
Dear lord please yes. The International 2 was simply amazing and the addition of CS:GO to The International 3 would be the stuff of dreams.
Honestly, it's not necessary is it? Dota 2 needs TI3 to continue to grow while CS is globally popular already. Another event for CS:GO would be good, but I dont think it needs to match the scale of Dota 2's.
Same reason why they pushed Dota 2 even though DotA was globally popular already. CS:GO's competitive scene is pretty much still in its infancy.
That makes sense I suppose.
I think they pushed Dota 2 because they have competition from League of Legends. There's no real competition to counterstrike.
Buddy, Dota 2 is a more popular game than CS:GO.
Yes, with these numbers, Dota2 clearly needs help growing and CS is truly in need of no help and is globally popular.
Well if you're talking about the competitive scene only, then yes Dota 2 needs it and CS:GO doesn't.
look at the stats on steam. Dota 2 has way more players than CS:GO http://store.steampowered.com/stats/
I know about the player bases.. I was talking about the COMPETITIVE SCENE. For example, the only American LANs for Dota 2 are the Internationals. Compare that to CS, which recently had ESEA LAN finals in dallas etc. Why is TI3 going to be in America again? Because the American scene NEEDS it. I wasn't talking about the popularity of the games. A lot of people play both games.
You can take that dream and put it away. $15 is just right the cost to not be a barrier to entry -- anyone who actually wants to play CSGO certainly will hold off on two sub sandwiches to afford it, while lowering the price at all (especially to "free") would really fuck it up for those of us who play matchmaking as there is no disincentive for hacking.
In short: $15 is a good nominal cost of punishment for those who do choose to hack, while being low enough not to prevent a reasonable first time buyer.
I dont disagree with your logic, but supposedly the game is going f2p confirmed by a few people in the know. They should make it F2p while fixing the matchmakingcheater problem.
The impression I've gotten is F2P will give you arms race/demolition/DM/casual (maybe), but to play comp you have to pay.
Don't have a source to back it up ATM, but that's always how I understood the prevailing rumors about F2P would go.
Thank you... That needed to be be said :')
I don't disagree, but I think there will be F2P at some point, even if it's in 2 years.
I completely agree. F2P made TF2 shit, and it would also bring too many CoD types into the prestigious game we covet and love.
In response to "3. 2 flash bangs in MM", The only logical reason it's only 1 flash in MM is because MM is designed to be new player friendly. I like playing MM for different reasons to playing PUGs with tournament rules. I can play MM with my friends who are new, but don't even think about or bother with otherwise inaccessible alternatives. Imagine 10 Silver I players running around with 20 flashbangs. The whole game will be raging at the amount of teamflashes. Halving it to 10 flashbangs per round seems like a sensible compromise.
Noticing this discussion before, it looks like:
At the moment:
Established players: "You are supposed to play with 2 flashes."
Valve: "2 Flashes are new player unfriendly. New players will just teamflash constantly with 2 flashes per player. MM is supposed to be new player friendly. That is our target market while there exists a plethora of alternatives for higher level players looking for tournament rules and settings"
New players: "I don't mind it as it is."
Established players: "I don't play MM and have alternative ways to play, but you should play with 2 flashes. I might consider playing MM if it was 128 tick etc. .... but ESEA/ESL etc. is better anyways. I'm willing to pay for everything they offer including patented anti-cheat and admins."
Hypothetical: If 2 flashes were implemented:
Established players: "Yay MM is how it is supposed to be, but I prefer ESEA because the skill is better and it's 128 tick (They can sustain 128 tick servers because you pay $7/month)".
New players: "Omg I just spend the whole game teamflashed, they should ban flash grenades they just result in trolls etc."
Hypothetical: If "1. 128 Tic servers" came to MM as well:
Established players: "Yay MM is perfect now, I have no reason to pay for ESEA except MM is full of cheaters so I'm still willing to pay $7/month for lots of admins and a great anti-cheat. Oh and so many noobs in MM just teamflashing us and we can't carry, can't even rank up."
Valve: "This is economically unsustainable. Why are we trying to compete with a paid service which has a completely different target market to our MM?"
New players: "Omg I just spend the whole game teamflashed, they should ban flash grenades they just result in trolls etc."
ESEA: "Still get the same people playing, we have an awesome anti-cheat and admins which you pay $7/month for the privilege. Plus less noobs teamflashing."
Also, who's to say "7. VAC Updates" doesn't continually happen anyways? Also, it's well within every players power to ban hackers anyways if there is obvious proof: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21916548/Ban1.png . Hacking occurs at the highest level of competitive online play in CS:GO (there were manual bans given out even though ESL have a reportedly 500,000 euro anti-cheat: http://www.hltv.org/news/10216-xelos-esl-ban-is-embarrassing) , it's the nature of the beast. If someone wants to hack and they know what they are doing, they will never get caught, either by ESEA, ESL or VAC. Admins/humans will probably always need to be in-the-loop.
"2. Free to play" may or may not happen, it seems to be all unconfirmed rumour.
"6. Mirage, Contra, Mill in MM" might happen in the future, given the community map season leaks.
If some dude on your team is going to teamflash, he'll do it whether he has one or two flashbangs.
Also, there won't be 20 flashbangs in the silver level. There are players won't don't buy flashbangs at higher levels, and some who buy them but don't remember to throw them. I'd imagine silver league is full of people who run around with no kit/armor/nades.
Adding a second flashbang will allow more seasoned players to play the game the way it should be played with minimal negative side effects. At worst, it allows players who know how to flash properly to completely stomp players who don't know how flashbangs work. Eventually they'll end up in different skill groups (ideally, anyway), so there really isn't a problem here.
I dont want Free to play on match making. I'm ok with valve making it f2p, but would be awesome if they made it like how starcraft does it. also make user pay the full price of $15 if they want to play on match making.
Unlike tf2, because csgo has match making i think it would that would be resulting in a lot of hackers.
Jesus christ, if I payed $15 for the abomination of matchmaking right now I would of felt cheated and robbed. I never encountered a cheater forever but everytime I play it now there is a cheater, last 8 games. I feel bad for the matchmaking community, they deserve better.
It's a one pay thing. How about thinking it like you payed the developer some money?
I don't understand what you mean. "Thinking it like you payed the developer some money? "
It's actually would*'ve*. It's a contraction of "would have" that sounds like would of when you say it out loud.
Dreams are what separate us good Mr. Waffles
Valve Developers' Reactions
Oh gawd please no.
Free to play is not going to happen any time soon/at all, unless something drastic happens to the game.
Like a big update?
F2p suppose to happen anyday now.
Has there been a reliable source to this? I've only seen references through this subreddit discussion to big names talking of "something big".
I personally cannot fathom how Valve would be able to make money/sustain public servers for GO in a F2P model without segregating the community or adding general silliness to create reoccurring income.
I have a personal theory tgat GO will turn F2P and Valve will only attempt to break even on the game, using it to solidify fans of Valve and ensure future games and other current games of theirs succeed. But then again, TF2 and DOTA 2 are already F2P. I dunno, just a thought.
It happend in Tf2 too
Sure, but that was what, three years?
TF2 had a massive update and change when it went fp2. Inventory, crafting, customization. CSGO would need some massive changes in order to get microtransactions to fit into the game and not destroy the attachment to past games.
Oh lordy lord my brother I hear you.
BROTHAS AND SISTAS
U wot m8
You have literally said everything that I want in CSGO without all of the other stuff that people seem to want which isn't necessary.
Damn, what you want is necessary but what other people want isn't?
Good job twisting my words. I didn't realize that we aren't allowed to state our own opinions now, jackass.
I'm a jackass for pointing out that you worded your sentences like other people's opinions aren't necessary? If that's not what you meant perhaps you should proofread what you write. Because what you wrote literally means you think what other people wanted aren't necessary.
Glock nerf. IMHO, the glock is the best pistol in the game, just because burst fire is so damn powerful. It needs to be matched, not eliminated. I would miss it very dearly.
The Five-Seven is the best pistol in the game, the price is the only thing that makes buying one a debatable decision. Stats wise it beats all the other pistols.
How so?
Why does everyone still want two flash bangs? Only having one per person means that you have to make sure to make it count. Two per person is 10 per team on full-buys, meaning you can pretty much spam them any time you might benefit from one, instead of having to think strategically about when to use one.
But I completely agree about the deagle buff and the silencer. Why the hell don't we have the silencer? Who at Valve decided that the game was better without the silencer?
Looky heeeeeerrre new-player...cs has always had 2 flashbangs. Not broken, don't fix it.
I agree. Playing 10 mans pugs and esea pugs has reminded me how much I miss two flashbangs.
And it was always a problem. He makes a valid point. Ten flashes a round is silly.
I don't think it's a problem. You can have a set of flashes 1 each for an entry take as terrorist. Then everyone still has one flash for bomb plant defense.
As a CT you'd have one for initial defense preflash, then one for a retake of bombsite. Still perfectly strategic and yada yada
Sure it's 10 flashes a round, but you should really only be getting hit with no more than 2 flashes. Multiple flashes can go off at once, sometimes they're misthrown, and if you don't have the reaction time of a snail you'll be able to turn half of the flashes that are thrown properly.
Having only one flashbang per player benefits the terrorists greatly, as the CT will have less flashbangs to work with for retakes should the T successfully take a site.
There's a lot more strategy involved than spamming two flashes. If you watch competitive play (esports), you would see that flashes are really important.
