Malkoran’s mind was so weak, I dominated him without issue. For such a talented necromancer, Malkoran succumbed to petty emotions far too easily. I collapsed his army of shades; platoons of undead following me would be suspicious, to say the least. I hurriedly departed Meridia’s Temple, although the stone colossus of Meridia’s visage was still silent. I searched the roadside, near my previous vessel's corpse, for the Star; it was hidden in the viridian mess of undergrowth, though mysteriously undamaged and untarnished, despite being several meters from the road.

Solitude’s walls loomed in the distance, at the end of a snaky trail of cobblestones. Soon, I will have my retribution.

On my journey north, a couple of soldiers in blue armor ambushed me. I identified them as Stormcloaks, the other side of Skyrim’s civil war. Malkoran knew quite a lot about the Stormcloaks, but, as he was more inclined towards arcane matters, was rather apathetic towards their cause. The Stormcloaks believed that the Empire threatened their Nordic way of life, and that their leader was the true High King of Skyrim. No matter; I did away with the two Stormcloaks, siphoning their life energy to prolong the bond to Malkoran’s body.

When I finally reached Solitude again, I homed in on Rajhin immediately, like the needle on a compass pointing north. He was deeper in the city, within the Blue Palace, the place of royalty in Solitude. Why would he be there...?

As I walked towards the massive citadel, I noticed more patrols than the last time I was in the city. Something must have them on edge. Before I reached the doorway, the illusion spell was lifted. Surrounding me, in the courtyard of the Palace, half an army of Imperial guards were revealed as the invisibility spell wore off. The Jarl of Solitude stood in front of me, although I knew that it was really Rajhin who took on the Jarl’s visage and ordered this ambush.

Rajhin commanded, grinning, “Capture the traitor! I want him unharmed for his execution.”
