SV: -75lbs! (Long post w/pics)

F/22/5'7" SW:325 CW:250 GW:150? -75lbs

I know this is long, I tried to break it up so its a little easier to skim :P

So my decision to lose weight wasnt a new years resolution or even a monday. It was actually made soon after my SO proposed going to RTX (a convention in Austin Tx) in February 2015. I went from super excited to "Oh shit, what about pictures.." This turned into "Im not going to be able to walk between hotels and the exhibit hall all day" and eventually "My weight is keeping me from doing things I really want to do." Boom... That was something I had sort of known but I thought I could get by being fat but this was a direct "Loose weight to do the awesome thing or stay home and be fat" and I couldnt argue with that.

So I started 2 things.

1: Going to therapy. Ive always had depression, theres no such thing as me without it. I started taking anti depressants (again, after a year off them from a really bad experience) and going to biweekly therapy with a therapist I actually really like. This was the start of really getting my shit together. I knew that I wouldnt last long with just the "diet", I needed to work on my motivation problem too.

2: Using MyFitnessPal. I wouldve scoffed at calorie counting a year ago, saying that its too hard and not worth it. I think when I was like 14 I tried calorie counting on paper... It was too much of a pain in the ass for me to stick with. But dude, this thing makes it so easy. It felt almost like a game at first, trying to get as close to my goal without going over. I started reading from r/loseit and looking at r/progresspics for inspiration. My first post was about being so excited to be under 300lbs and you guys were so supportive. My second post was about people not noticing my weight loss and wondering if it actually WAS noticeable. The support I got back from that post made me cry. You guys are so amazing! But I do want to make a specific thank you to u/Juventus19 for sending me a garmin activity tracker. That thing has helped so much! Huge Thank You!

So at this point Ive lost 75lbs. Im eating 1200-1600 calories (I eat my exercise calories back). I do (at least) 20min of yoga/stretching everyday and try to find time for a 1 mile walk or some bodyweight training a couple times during the week.

I went to RTX and had an awesome time. I wasnt exhausted from walking, if anything I was tired of people by the end of it (45k attendees!). I cleaned out my closet and only have ~1/3rd of the amount of clothes I used to have. Ive resorted to leggings, tank tops, and cardigans since Ive gone down 3 sizes. I started taking pictures again, now that Ive seen some face progress. Im getting my flexibility back which I really missed. I spend more time in the mirror now than I have since I left high school. I enjoy seeing some things disappear and some things reappear lol. I cant remember the last time I smiled when I looked in the mirror. The more I lose weight the more I feel like "me". At 325lbs I felt really disconnected from my body. It really felt like a meat suit rather than who I was. Its hard to explain the feeling I get. Relief that that person is still there underneath all that, and hope that when Im done Ill be an even happier healthier individual. /cheesy

Really great progress so far! The difference is amazing, keep it up! And I totally know what you mean about mirrors, I find myself smiling when I pass them now, too. :)

Congrats that's really good progress. At 5'7" you're going to be a stunner once you reach your goal weight. Keep that hair growing out too for hair gains :)

I don't know what's more amazing; how much progress you've made or the fact that RoosterTeeth prompted your change in lifestyle. Keep it up!

It's weird seeing someone else that had a similar wake up call... I'm assuming by RTX you mean Rooster Teeth Expo? I was recently at EGX, the huge games convention in the UK and awkwardly trying to get around the full to the brim convention hall was one of the things that made my mind click to make a change hehe

Your progress is awesome ^-^ I'm one week in and I lost 8lbs this week and it's given me so much motivation to continue.

Yep. Tho I was mostly concerned about pictures. That is probably going to be the only time Ill be able to go to RTX and meet people for autographs and pictures. I didnt want to hate the pictures just because of how I look, ya know? But the amount of people that were there was ridiculous, especially for someone who isnt very social...

Hey as someone that's 5'8 and was 250lbs cosplaying Mario at a convention with 3000+ people, I know what you mean :p though it is different in costume because you can have fun with it regardless and it keeps your mind off the possibility of judgmental people, at the end of the day our worst judge is ourselves & It seems like RTX was a massive accomplishment in general for you, just like EGX was for me

I usually despise social situations like that, I don't do well with large groups of people never mind a convention hall full, but I managed to force myself to even get onto the Nintendo stage for their cosplay competition in front of 250 people and it was awesome haha

I bet you're glad you went to RTX though? :)
