Need a self-esteem boost? Take your potty-training kid to the bathroom with you.
I got a "good job pooping mommy. You get a jelly bean" this morning. Hey, we all need positive reinforcement!

When we (husband, baby and I) were at the family locker room at my gym getting changed for my kid's swim lesson, my son yelled quite loudly, "Daddy's penis is HUGE! So big, your penis, daddy!" My poor husband didn't know whether to strut or hide.
My son (now 7) used to do this all the time when my husband took him to parent/baby swim class. He also told the ladies at this day care that Daddy had a big penis. I was there. It was hilarious.
Last week at bedtime my toddler came to the same realization. I hear toddler and my husband in the bathroom "good job peeing daddy! Wow daddy your penis is really big" I almost died laughing.
This made me snort.
Just what every guy wants to hear, and just who he doesn't want to hear it from.
That was pretty much exactly husband's reaction. "Uh, thanks kid? But also, don't stand so close."
It was especially awesome when we were somewhere public so everyone could know what I good job I did in the potty.
Haha my son does the same! "Mummy poo! Poo!"
My toddler daughter has a new book that she's mostly been reading with her dad. I read it to her a few days ago and (apparently) mispronounced the word "clambered." For some reason, I always thought it was pronounced the same as "clamored," but no, you do pronounce the B. Toddler corrected me, "No, that's not it, it's "clamBered." Hubby confirmed (then Googled, since I stubbornly didn't believe him.)
Yesterday I read it to her again and pronounced it correctly, and she announced, "Yay! You got it right, Mommy! Good job!"
I actually just looked it up as well because I didn't even believe you. But yeah you pronounce the B. You learn something every day I guess.
Did you get your jellybean?
I was in the bathroom this morning throwing up my breakfast of water and saltines and the toddler came running in and started full-on belly laughing at me. I mean head back, rubbing his hands on his stomach, cackling. Then he spit into the toilet, slammed down the lid and ran away. I'd like a good job for not puking up your prenatal vitamin, please! And jelly beans...mmm...jelly beans...
What a sadist you are raising! I can't keep myself away from the jelly beans. Maybe I ought to restrict myself to after the potty.
Right? I'm a little worried about that. He also thinks it's hilarious when the dog sneezes or my husband coughs. He's either going to be a doctor or a creeper.
It's almost Starburst jelly bean season. I'm planning to stock up bags of them (read: hide them) until I can eat without throwing up. I can't wait!
LOL My 3 yr old did something similar when I told him I had to go poop. "Let me seeeeeeeee!" He peeked in the toilet and goes "YAY YOU POOPED IN THE TOILET!!" and started clapping for me haha
I get "Mama, I so proud of you!" You can be damned sure I make sure I get my M&M, too.
When I decline my treat for going potty, my 3yo asks if he can have it then.
My son just informs me, every time, that I still don't have a "peanuts". Nope, kiddo, still haven't grown one. Sorry!
Mine insisted that I used to have a penis, and got mad at me when I denied it. He knew I had one because he saw it.
My daughter: "Are you going to do all of your poops on the potty today, Mummy? Yes? Oh, I'm SO PROUD OF YOU!"
Mine locked himself in there with my yesterday and was jumping up and down cheering for me 😂 "yay momma potty"
My son was sitting in the bathroom while I was pooping today. He said "your poop hurt mama? Its ok mine hurt too sometime! I go get you a cookie!"
Ahhh. Empathy!
Where the fuck is my damn jellybean? Man, such slackers in this house!
My 7 year old keeps whining about not getting a jelly bean when HE uses the toilet.
We took a potty training class to help train my autistic girl. They flat out told us that everyone in the house should gets treats during potty training.
My son would be thrilled! Our jellybeans are from Costco. We have enough for everyone to get jellybeans.
That is the only concern I have with this method, as when do I successfully stop the jellybeans? Every Easter they'll stock up and I'm done for!

I'm going to pass. When my daughter comes in the bathroom with me she asks why my belly is so big. Breaks my fucking heart.
As I was getting dressed yesterday, my daughters (5 and 3) swatted my butt and commented on the jiggle. Thanks, kids. I told them my jiggle was their fault. Haha!
My son claps his hands and loudly proclaims "Yay"!
Reading this while in the bathroom. So far I've had 8 visits from children. It's been like 4 minutes. Just leave me alone so I can poop in peace!
Whenever I pull in and park the car I get a clap clap and "Yay Mumma!" from the backseat.
You got to take it from where you can get it.
