Haha, it's put together with all the stuff I learnt from previous trial and error experiments—and lots of patience!
I kept referring back to an actual Marvel poster to see what elements I should replicate next.
For starters, I shared how I did the digital painting effect here.
The exploding footpath was made by extending the masked cobblestones upwards (duplicate layers + motion blur) and overlaying a few masked layers of cloud render filter and smoke brushes. The debris was done by selecting random cobblestone parts and applying the stained glass filter before removing the black outline and scattering them with a couple of layers of radial blur and other motion effects.
The flying sand was done with a similar method, but by using the mezzotint filter to make the selection.
Almost everything else was finished by doing colour adjustments with custom brushes to exaggerate the digital painting effect.

I'm blown away by this Doc, content/topic aside, it's truly some of your best work. I can't fathom the work you put into it. On another note, I'm worried you might have turned the corner from shaming pervs to pulling them out of the woodwork to get their favorite perv poster made. ;)
