Oxygen (+ Airlocks) Logic Template id: MJYVSTCT

Map id: MJYVSTCT Creator: Mutant1988

Here's yet another small logic template that I publish for the benefit of the community. Feel free to use it as a basis for your own levels. If you find it useful, or at the very least interesting, please rate it up.

The way it works is like this:

Your oxygen meter constantly drains unless you are inside an oxygenated volume. Inside those volumes, you oxygen meter is refilled rapidly. Whenever oxygen is at less than 100, a breathing sound is played. At 100, it stops. Once oxygen hits 0, a ominous noise plays (Couldn't find an appropriate choking noise, so spooky noise will have to do) and you sustain damage (5d/5s). You can refill your oxygen meter using oxygen tanks (Third time I've used the bottle model container now) or set it to specific values using consoles (Which conveniently also makes it easier to test the various levels of oxygen, to aid in tweaking values).

This isn't a terribly advanced logic, so to make things interesting I also include an exit and entrance airlock, that toggle oxygenated volumes on and off while locking and unlocking doors. The way I've designed the level allows you to easily remove the middle room (Observation Module) and design an entire level in between the two airlocks.

The main logic controlling the oxygen mechanic is placed in a room separate from the observation room.

The increased air drain, oxygen manipulating consoles and oxygen tanks are inside the observation module, so remember to copy those to appropriate areas in your map, if you wish to use them.

To use this logic, simply download the level and open it in the editor, then build the level you want besides the rooms already placed and then just copy the logic from my map to where you need it.

Or if you've already begun making a map, have a look at the way the logic is set up and then recreate it from scratch.

The logic strings should be easy enough to just copy and paste to where you want them and attaching them to any volume you want them to apply to. There are some redundant number variable references that can be removed as long as you remember to connect the items attached to one of the essential number variable references.

I would like to hear if you think there is anything more worth adding to the template.

A way to fit in an upgrade that permanently increases your oxygen meter would be interesting, but I haven't figured out how to set something like that up.
