Base Stamkos Review+Giveaway (PS4)

NSFWGiveaway

'Tis the season, UFA day today and I would've loved to see Stamkos hit the open market, but him staying in Tampa is fine by me as well. Hopefully you guys all have a day filled with no overpayments and bad contracts, here's the review.

Line: Stamkos-Toews-Kane

Skating 9.5/10 Stammer isn't the first guy who you'd think of as far as elite speed and skating goes, but man does he fly. His high acceleration and agility allows him to separate himself from defenders, meanwhile his speed comes in to give him a boost in that regard, I think the only players I've used that have felt faster straight away are Duchene and Hall, and even then their skating does not feel nearly as smooth. On top of that Stamkos does not get blown up by contact, unless of course the defenseman can line you up. Bigger players will have an easier time separating him from the puck, but Stamkos is able to hold his own out there in terms of strength and balance.

Shooting 10/10 Stamkos has a fantastic shot, the only person with comparable all-around shooting that I've use is Ovi, and even then its different. With Ovi its known that his shot is powerful, and it feels that way, and Stamkos has that too, but his release for some reason feels just a little bit quicker. I'd say Ovi gets some more power behind his shots, but the fact that you can get it off quicker with Stamkos gives them an even rating. His slapshot is a viable option that you can use, I find it to be accurate and powerful, deadly from the high slot, he can be used on the point for the powerplay. His one-timer is absolute filth, gg tendys, if he finds separation on the weak side, and he finds space very well, he can crank one in the net with ease, and I mean what else would you expect, that's his bread and butter right there.

Hands 9.5/10 Stamkos possesses some extraordinary hands, he performs dekes quickly and smoothly without losing the puck, and he can use this to create space in order to let off a quick wristshot. He can also just beat the defenders and blow by them with his speed. This forces the defender to play him perfectly as a mistake in being too aggressive or passive will result in a scoring chance. Now what if they take away the shot and neutralize him? Well Stamkos actually has some pretty damn good passing for a sniper, he can thread the needle with ease and it can be pretty unexpected to the defenseman if they think they've taken away Stammer's options.

Checking 7.5/10 Stamkos isn't a player who's going to lay the body, and while he can take hits, a bigger check will knock him over. I find him to be weaker than he has been in previous games, but not a glass cannon, maybe somewhere in the middle of Seguin and Toews in the fact that he can take contact but don't expect him to go tank mode.

Defense 7.5/10 Again nothing special here, decent poke check and stick lifts, terrible at face-offs so he should be put on wing, in position, serviceable and exactly what you need from a scoring winger.

Overall... Stamkos has been one of the most enjoyable cards for me to use recently, he's always out there creating scoring chances and opportunities for my team. Seguin was one of my favorite players to use, and it was tough to sell him, but Stamkos has more than made up for it, he does it all on offense and can take over a shift if need be. He's a player that should be able to slot into most Top 6's even at this point in the game and would be a welcome addition to a team that needs a scoring winger.

...And you could very well acquire this man, unlike the Maple Leafs, you too can have your very own Stamkos. The rules are simple, account must be older than 2 weeks, have some activity other than giveaway participation, what I want is two things...

What is your go to story? It can be anything, a night out, something stupid from when you were a child, etc.. I want something that will make me and the rest of the sub laugh, the person with the most epic one will be able add Stammer to their team.
Pick a player from below for me to review next week, if you don't do this I will not choose your story.

I'll pick the winner around Monday, you have all weekend to do this, the winner will be PM'd and will get Stamkos by Tuesday night.

Good Luck!
