[CONFLICT] German Operations in the Baltic

Conflict

As the Americans and Russians attempt to "face off" in the Baltic Sea, Germany sees an ideal opportunity to pressure the Russians and show solidarity with our American allies and friends.

Of particular interest is the Russian deployment of a Yury Ivanov-class intelligence ship. We will be deploying the following forces, fresh off of Operation Anabatisch, specifically to shadow this vessel:

AssetTypeNumber
Zephyr-T HAPSMaritime surveillance pseudo-satellite2
U-32Type 222 submarine1
A55 Shalsee, A58 BodenseeType 424 Class Fleet Service Vessel2

These assets will attempt to gain vital intelligence but will not approach the vessel.

Germany will also deploy for the first time the newest vessel in the fleet, the F-229 Flensburg. The following assets will deploy alongside the American fleet in a supporting role when it is in NATO waters:

AssetTypeNumber
F-222 Baden-Württemberg, F223 Nordrhein-WestfalenF-125 Class Frigate (plus 2 x NH90 NFH, 2 x S-100 armed camcopter each)2
F-229 FlensburgStrelitz-Class ASW Frigate1
U-34, U-36Type 212 submarine2

However, German naval forces will not be as "passive" as American or Russian forces. We will probe and test Russian reaction speeds, sailing close to their territorial waters off Kaliningrad Oblast and performing close manoeuvres near to Russian vessels. Our submarines in particular will surface within sighting distance of Russian surface vessels before diving quickly. This will be repeated at all hours of the day and night, keeping their crews on edge and ill-rested.

We will of course remain within the umbrella of American or German air cover at all times.

In addition to this, the Zephyr-T mission conducting round-the-clock permanent observation of the Russian Baltic Sea bases in Kaliningrad will be reinforced with another Zephyr-T aircraft, and observations will be linked directly to the American fleet.
