Reviewing the Weapon Balance Pass: The Good, the Bad, and the OK.
Since I'm one of those people who actually likes quirky, novel weapons (read: I already had forma in most of these weapons before the balance patch), I decided I might as well give my opinion on some of the weapons and changes. This isn't exhaustive, and I welcome other opinions if you've got a great build!
#The Good
##Panthera
This is the one weapon that's done a serious 180 in terms of viability. It's not just straight-up better, either, it's also easier and more fun to use!
- The secondary fire can now use beam mods, which means you can slap Sinister Reach on it which, IMO, is a must-have.
- This is a fucking strong weapon, guys.
- Combustion Beam also works with the weapon's primary fire, so you've got an amazing room-clearer at lower levels and against the infested.
##Miter The changes to this basically made it the weapon we should have gotten back when it was introduced. Highlights:
- Hit detection is now based on the size of the sawblade
- Reduced charge time and increased projectile speed.
- They made the Miter fun.
##Synoid Simulor This will be a controversial one, I know it, but right now the Synoid Simulor is the Penta you always wanted. Just imagine a grenade launcher with remote detonation that:
- Doesn't deal self-damage,
- Has a great fire rate and magazine capacity, and
- Allows you to place grenades more accurately in three dimensions.
That's the new Simulor. Overall, I feel the weapon is more fun and engaging, which is what they were aiming for with the change.
#The Bad
##Glaxion Look, if I'm gonna use a freeze ray, it better damn well freeze people, not apply a slow effect that I can get by slapping a cold mod on a better weapon.
- The Glaxion is overall stronger than before, but
- There's really no reason to use the weapon considering there are better alternatives and its novel mechanic isn't very novel at all.
##Paracyst Like the Harpak, except weaker. As a tangent, what's the deal with DE and projectile-based burst weapons? I feel like the Paracyst would be a LOT better as a shotgun, which would even give its pull mechanic an actual use besides novelty.
- Pull feels a lot more consistent than the Harpak's, even with the charge time, but
- The low damage simply isn't worth it, even with its status chance.
#The OK
##Attica I should start by saying Attica is one of my favorite weapons. Hell, I didn't even think it needed a buff, because the weapon was definitely good if you invested into it. That's why I put it in this section: the buff was a slight damage increase and little else, so I don't know if the weapon has changed much as a result.
- It was good before and it's good now.
- If you can land headcrits it'll take you through Sorties with no complaints.
##Harpak Like the Paracyst, except crit-based rather than status-based. The higher damage makes it a better weapon, though.
- The Harpak is in this section for the same reason as the Attica—it was good before, and it's good now.
- The alt-fire (like the Paracyst) is just kind of there.
- There's a lot of situations where enemies are immune to the pull
- At low levels it will kill outright
- most times you're better off just shooting the guy anyway
##Buzlok
Another "middling" weapon like the Attica and Harpak that was always a good gun for anyone who was willing to invest in it.
- One of the most satisfying primaries to use.
- Suffers from "sniper syndrome" where it's niche is single-target damage, but the game is all about mass murder.
- The increased damage is great, but the increased crit for tagged enemies seems to be additive, so not all that noticeable.
##Tonkor Putting my cards on the table: I'm one of the few that wanted the Tonkor to have self-damage, so I'm not upset with the change. I considered putting this in the "good" section, but...
- Crit reduction isn't all that noticeable, really
- Main loss of DPS comes from the fact that you need to be more careful with your shots.
- It was a boring weapon before, and it's a boring weapon now. I'd rather take the Penta, Castanas, or pretty much any other explosive.
I don't have an entry for the Telos Boltace or the Ogris since I haven't used them enough to have an opinion on them.

I'd put Telos Boltace is the 'Bad' category as it lost its ability to break crates in an AoE. </3
