Oh god, that cat bot. Most of the bots I just ignore (a lot are at least trying to be useful), but that one annoys me every time I see it for how much space it wastes on nothing.
If others would like it, I could be open to letting the bot back in.
I'd say kill 'em all, let Yosuke sort 'em out. Never found that bot useful personally, especially in a subreddit such as this.

Abby is starting to remind me of Drew in the sense, they both have really interesting hobbies and interests. This also works really well with Vinnys talk about his woodworking.

They are just the least nerdy guys with a wide range of interests. The best content to me is when they talk about their own lives, such as Drew flying a plane, Dan talking about his own escapades in the ring, Brad talking about Southern Food, Jeff and Jason talking about being criminals, Vinny talking about fixing attics, Abby talking about improv, Rorie about Mexico and food/drink, Ben talking about... Smash tournaments? Ben hasn't really expanded past video games as far as I can recall?
That is why the Beast is more appealing currently. They are much more willing to get fast and loose with the whole video game discussion.

Maybe it just reflects my current ambivalence towards videogames. I enjoy playing them, but getting excited for them is a completely different thing.

I had that feeling too, but then also the exact opposite feeling of, "It's already been 10 episodes? I thought it was 6 or so, max." She's meshed so well with the Beast that time flew by in both senses for me.

Not only that, she rides a pretty cool bike IMO. It's a great little thing. When said she was thinking about selling it I got a little sad, as dumb as that may sound. I ride as well and it's a whole lot of fun.

Idk man, It wasn't all that bad. Dark Souls 2, Shovel Knight, Transistor, Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2, Mordor, FC4, Wolf Among Us, Wasteland 2, Stick of Truth, Left Behind, Ground Zeroes, Bayonetta 2, Ultimax... Though honestly DS2 alone was enough to carry it for me

Yeah 2014 was an odd year, I was looking back, and you had a lot of ambitious but disappointing AAA games. A great year for smaller games though, we got some gems like monument valley, nidhogg, 80 days, threes, hitman GO.

Even the successful AAA games that year either had negative tails to them (Dark Souls 2, Ground Zeros) or were just too niche to get a strong following for the GOTY discussion.

I'm really picking up what Alex is putting down in regards to PUBG being a bit refreshing because it's such a stripped down thing. Even though I've only been playing it for about a week now, I haven't jived with a shooter like this in years. The combination of every firefight being a life and death situation for real and the lack loadouts/perks/etc, like Dan and Vinny mentioned being huge for COD4, just grabs me.
However, I think the lack of loadouts/perks/etc is what really tickles my fancy because in more recent shooters I've found that my enjoyment of the game tends to hinge on those sorts of things most. Plus, I feel like the playing field is more level, sorta anyway, due to those things being absent. And even though there is weapon customization, it doesn't feel as impactful compared to other games to me - although that may just be my inexperience.

Yeah, those weapon unlock progression systems turned me off of shooters for a while. Really nice to see games like Overwatch and PUBG be successful without it using very different approaches.

In the Mario vs Zelda debate I would say Zelda has higher highs and lower lows while Mario is more consistently good.

I'm a Nintendo fan but not particularly passionate about Mario or Zelda, but I do tend to admire Zelda more for it's crazier experiments. Not long ago (I believe it was during the AC:Origin discussion when Dan said Assassin's Creed had the worst video game story) Dan took some amount of pride in most of his favorite franchises having good records of success, but I see that as Dan just latching onto safe bets that don't evolve much.

I get so irrationally angry at dans opinions about games, and I don't know why. MASS EFFECT IS ONE OF THE BEST GAME SERIES EVER AND ME2 IS A TOP TEN ALL TIME GAME.

Hearing Abby ask about whether she needs to be playing all-the-games on this week's podcast has really made me stop and think about the newbies. I hope Abby and Ben are doing alright. This sub is far more pleasant but with all the crud I've been seeing on NeoGAF, Twitter and sometimes even the GB Chat, it must be pretty rough dealing with the negative comments, even the ones that might be deemed "constructive".
Truth be told, I think we're spoiled in the GB community with the quality of content the team delivers. IMO, even at it's worst, Giant Bomb stands head and shoulders above the nearest competition and Abby and Ben are already contributing to making the site even more fantastic.

I've heard a lot of shit against Ben, which seems really unfair. Most of it is over his voice, which is just like, what do you expect the dude to do? He talks that way, what do you want? I haven't heard much about Abby, but she isn't in the Quicklooks so I can't see shitty Youtube or r/games comments about how much she sucks.
I bet however there's some asshole somewhere who thinks she shouldn't have this game because "she's not a gamer". EDIT: She watches movies and has a motorcycle, I've decided I'm in love with her.

It's weird, she seemed so shy at first and now I feel that the Beastcast feels like it's mostly a conversation between her and Vinnie half the time. I'm not complaining! I think it's cool. Her and Vinnie have great chemistry and now I see why it's obvious they hired her.
Abby's probably never going to review a game, so it shouldn't matter. Any game she plays is because she wants to play it. I mean Drew spent his last days of Giant Bomb just playing a game over 20 years old. Past the editorial team, I think diversity in game knowledge, interest, and passion is a good thing.
I think that Abby has been a breath of fresh air because of this. While Ben is new, his life has been games for a while in the same way the rest of the staff's (and many of our) lives have been. Abby does not seem that way at all.
