As many of you suggested, I'll be making a comment on every post that you can upvote if the post is hitbox porn, and downvote if its not. If my comment gets a certain amount of downvotes, then I'll remove the post.

This automated solution is the best one, because you all are the best at determining what fits the community.

iirc they took down the bot from moderating posts so they can process old posts and use those to detect reposts (source)

Is this a joke? The bot is wrong more times than it's right, because people only care about rhyme rather than meter. I guarantee that, in this sub, people will just downvote if they dislike the game (RIP Fortnite)

If the community itself doesn't understand what hit box porn is then you're going to end up with a situation similar to what's happening on r/cyberpunk. Basically on that sub people think that pretty colors on a skyscraper = cyberpunk when that isn't the case.

Here it might be people coming and posting random "cool" game clips or hit box gore and if the users don't understand what hit box porn actually is then there could be many unrelated posts littering the page. However I think people here are pretty good at knowing what's appropriate so I don't think we need to be too concerned.

I think having an example of good hit box porn on the side bar or something could help people understand if they aren't sure. But at the same time I think it's pretty self explanatory.

I'm here from like, page 9 of r/all, but as an aside, if you're looking for an alternative cyberpunk sub, there's also r/CoreCyberpunk. Much smaller than the other, but also more tightly moderated to exclude cityscapes and such.

I totally see your point. The only real, foulproof, solution would be constant active moderation.

This bot is a good filter but still won't completely put a stop to the Thumbnail-voters from the frontpage.

Problem is that posts get outside of this community, and people upvote stuff from r/all, popular, et cetera. They just are upvoting based on whether or not they like the gif. Not on whether or not it fits.

And it is a really common problem on reddit, not just this sub.

It's already a possible road to something better then just people upvoting Fortnite, but I strongly doubt this bot would change the game in the sub.

Only real solution is active moderation.

We're active. But we're just people, and the subject of what constitutes hitbox porn is subjective. A community solution really is the best path.

It's for people who browse without checking which sub posts are in, or when a post gets to the front of r/all. Thousands of people upvote because something is interesting regardless of it fitting a sub or not.

Anyone else think this is pointless?

So we have a sub that we use upvotes and downvotes to show the greateness of a post.

If the post sucks and doesn't fit the sub it will be downvoted and lost in the piles of content.

If people post nonhitboxporn than the people should downvote it and report it.

So you're grand idea was to make a bot that eats its upvotes or downvotes to determin the post is legit? When the whole system of upvoting downvoting is to do just that, but with an extra step of removing it.

The bot doesn't even analyze the video to determine if it is or not leaving it up to the community...just like it already was.
