The WoW Classic demo was added to the PTR download servers
It has a version number of 1.13. Unfortunately, it's encrypted.

Oh no, this means another screaming video from tips
dam why so much hate I see these comments all the time the dude is just excited about the game, lol
It's not like there is much else to talk about while we wait.. ;]
Yeah but he is a hack, he got basic stuff wrong in the first couple of videos I saw. And this hack will be the face of the vanilla community. Just check out a couple vanilla videos from Preach, you can see the difference in quality yourself.
Edit: spelling
Give him a break. He started his Youtube not even a year ago, how long is Preach making videos? We are all humans. Humans do things wrong sometimes.
And this hack will be the face of the vanilla community.
With his 13k subscribers? He's basically the r/classicwow Youtuber. I don't dislike the guy, but let's face it: he's going to have a hard time once the big WoW personalities start covering Classic when there's actually something to talk about.
dam why so much hate I see these comments all the time the dude is just
...just a scammer with no special expertise about vanilla WoW whatsoever milking suckers for clicks with fake "leaks" and empty bullshit.
It's not like there is much else to talk about while we wait.
Well if there's nothing to talk about, better make a ten minute video about the fact there's nothing to talk about! Because shutting the fuck up is never an option.
Scammer? What? Source please. First time I’ve heard of this
When he was first starting out he attracted a lot of attention and a pile of ad revenue by claiming he had leaks from an inside source at Blizzard and would be revealing them.
One "leak" about the Classic team lead was something people already knew from Linkedin, one "leak" claiming they were doing patch progression was later proved totally wrong, none of it has turned out to be correct, and he has had no "leaks" since.
So we've got two possibilities here. Either he had a real inside source who was badly wrong about some things and "leaked" things we already knew and then never contacted him again. A "leaker" who bizarrely decided they were going to talk only to a random yahoo with a very tiny following, instead of talking to any number of major outlets or much bigger streamers who would love such a scoop. Or, and this is much more likely, he's a low-life parasite who made the whole thing up for ad money and clicks.
I'm also suspicious of his other routine where he cried poor and said he lost his job and totally needed people to donate to support him, but then was miraculously fine shortly afterwards.
It is not like he has any special knowledge or credentials to do with vanilla WoW. I don't think he even had a sixty in vanilla. He knows less about vanilla than I do, he just repeats shit he heard on reddit.
I said not much else to talk about. Not nothing to talk about. Classic demo announcement is the biggest news we've gotten since the announcement itself. If you're not here to discuss classic are you just here to be a salty asshole? Seems like you may be in the wrong place
There are lots of people doing worthwhile content about vanilla. You won't see me calling them out as know-nothing scam artist fucks because, as far as I can tell, they are not. They know what they are talking about and produce worthwhile content. I can't say I watch all of their stuff because I find videos with no transcript deeply annoying, but I am glad they are there.
Tips is a special case, he's a know-nothing scam artist fuck.
Harsh man, too harsh
oh come on, fuck off he invites and talks with people who are actually good ( pvp summit, monkeynews etc ), his dungeon guides are comfy and great for beginners, quest and item guides are nice for people who havent done em, discussions with content creators are cool. There isn't one video about any kind of "leaks"
guy does varied content and is just consistently solid
the hate is just because he posts on the subreddit every now and then
There isn't one video about any kind of "leaks"
Funny that. He pushed that down the memory hole quick smart once he pocketed the money.
he invites and talks with people who are actually good
And adds nothing to the discussion. Because he doesn't know jack.
It's not like there is much else to talk about while we wait.. ;]
Then people should just stop talking for a sec
you have the choice not to watch my man
you do you
You don’t know if a video is 20minutes of irrelevant rambling before you sit through it
I mean, you can probably tell after 5 minutes, but that’s still time wasted.
because all these fucking "Content Creators"® are just spewing hot garbage into their microphones in the hopes of MAKING IT BIIIIIIIIG and getting their own line of gaming peripherals or Youtube partnership or whatever the fuck.
get a real job, fucking hippies
get a real job, fucking hippies
then get replaced by a cobot in a few years
We can only hope!
Also to clarify, the WoW classic demo has nothing to do with the PTR. They just sort of happened at the same time.
can you download the game ?
You can download everything, even a car
But would you do that?
Yes
A little known hack I use all the time is downloading more RAM. I’m up to 2 TB now, my processor can’t even keep up and it lags out sometimes though.
No.
where are my cds tho
Awesome, hopefully we get more news soon.
Technically it's been added to the patch server.
There are no specific download servers. NGDP defines a set of CDNs to use that then resolve to a set of CDN download servers local to you. So what may the download server for you may not be the same download server for someone across the world from you. Using a program code you then download from those servers data specific to w/e game you are installing. This program code is actually what's been added ("wowdemo")
Technically speaking it's also been added to the download servers/CDNs. It's a full fledged build, we just can't look at it.
technically speaking, it's still not out yet and it will not be released for a long while
I wouldn't personally call a month a "long while".
Just have someone in NCIS decrypt it...
1.13
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
We can wildly speculate about this for days TBH.
cue 30min video of someone talking into the camera about this specific choice of version number
stupidly long annoying intro graphic
"Hey guys kolomarumtopto here, just wanna start by saying"
plugs social media
plugs youtube
plugs dollar shave club
"Ok today were talking about 1.13"
spends 5 minutes covering things we already know
"So what does this mean, well"
15 second random theory which is the only new idea in the whole 12 minute video, most likely stolen from reddit
"Remember to smash that subscribe button!"
obnoxious end graphic
WoW YouTubers are insufferable
T E N M I N U T E S
Bro :(
WoWYouTubers are insufferable[deleted]
I like Taliesin and Evittel
Podcasters are way worse
You forgot the hideously immature catch-phrase. sorry,- no hate.
You forgot unrelated gameplay footage.
Where can I sub?
Is this just me or the dollar shave club is every fucking where? Almost everything i watch, ranging from phone review to poe build to casually explain, all have them as sponsor.
They know that neck beards watch youtube videos.
They are the new Audible.
Shit like this makes me sad that I haven't made a single dollar by doing online video game content. I've seen some really amateur shit getting over 100,000 views. Even reaction videos and one YouTuber's response to another YouTuber generates likes. I want in on this circle jerk!
Maybe I'll just open a Twitch and stream myself playing Ni No Kuni. :P
- Soon to be sponsored by Loot Crate?
and hit that little bell icon!
10 minutes and 1 second video to get them ad dollars.
"Make sure to smash that 'like' button"
Its a versioning development thing. A way to signify that 1.12 + bug fixes.
disagree the bug fixes are the iterations after the 1.12.1 which would be 1.12.2 or 1.12.4
by being 1.13 its saying its a unique patch beyond 1.12.1 which is exactly what classic will be as it is running on new server infrastructure with all the things that come with it, which we do not yet know.
Models updates and so on could certainly make it 1.13 and the server stuff you mentioned.
It's a major internals overhaul in the same way 2.2 was a major patch devoted to adding voice chat.
[deleted]
Honestly these comments are starting to annoy me more than the videos themselves.
Battle.net is also on version 1.13.
Post naxx originally intended for vanilla content confirmed! Looking forward to all the vids.
Ah yes, the new 40 man raid instance, Pandamonium Fortress, a tier after Naxxramas and upon completion unlocks the Pandaren race.
Don't even joke about that!
I mean, Pandaren were originally going to be the alliance race for BC.
They simply cannot take the old version numbers again, since they've already been taken and it would cause chaos if they did. So they continue numbering
Makes sense. They are using 1.12 as the base they said. There will minor tweaks even if no major changes, so technically it's a new version.
Tweaks would be a 1.12.x deal. 1.13 could simply signify things like model updates, animations the server updates etc. Big changes basically
Version numbering is completely and utterly arbitrary, you know.
It is, but blizzard has a pattern.
X.y.z where z are hotfixes (adding on the correct tool tip info that is), tweaks, smaller bugfixes. Y is for content patches, class balancing, New models etc, big stuff generally. And x marks a new major expansion release.
Not really a fan of 1.12, personally it feels very unfinished. They should start with AV and quests available in Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, etc. They don't necessarily need to drop the AV rewards right away but the PVP option would be nice.
1.12 is the final patch in vanilla.
