To-March

Going to London for the first time soon, what are some bars/concerts/unknown places to check out?

I'm pretty much interested in everything!

I love any kind of Music (any record stores?) and crazy stuff that's unique and original, especially if there are any concerts around 22-27/12/18 that are worth seeing.

Furthermore I'd be interested in some bars that are not really known by the public or more interesting than the usual tourist things.

But please just write me everything you can think of, I'm sure there's lots of things I'm not considering right now, that I'd still love to see!

Thank you!

Best thing about London is the walking around. If you go to Rotherhithe station there is a pub nearby called the Mayflower Inn. Story goes is that the pub is made from the original dock for the Mayflower and the church across the street has a plaque on the wall commemorating the crew of the Mayflower taking communion there before sailing out of London.

You can walk the Jubilee Walk from there all the way through Central London along the South bank of the Thames. You can see a lot of interesting stuff on that walk.

I would check out the blue plaques website. One of the best things to do in London is to walk around hunting those down.

If you cross the river to Wapping the Prospect of Whitby is a cool old pub as well!

The Weavers near Newington Green is a real unknown. Hardly anyone goes there because it fucking stinks and the beer is shite.

Pubs that aren’t known by the public tend not to survive too long.

It’s really depends what your after. If your looking for the traditional English pub...

Ye Olde Mitre

Ye Old Cheshire Cheese

The Ship & Shovell

If you want different

The Churchill Arms (literally covered in Christmas trees and filled with bric-à-brac, good Thai food)

The Porterhouse and Waxy O’Connor’s for Irish pubs that you will get lost in.

The Counting House for a stunning bar under a domed glass ceiling lit by massive chandeliers.

Shepherd’s Market will be lit with fairy lights and has a couple good pubs, one featuring a bit of taxidermy.

If your into craft beer google east London brewery’s

Definitely recommend The Churchill Arms if you like Thai food and you’re in Kensington.

Record store: Phonica on Poland St Soho

Bar: hidden whisky / cocktail bar called The Vault that is found behind bookcase at Milorys on Greek Street in Soho.

Concerts: Well you will do better to look for artists over venues but some of my favourite places include (in size order): The Union Chapel (islington), Hammersmith Apollo & Brixton Academy.

For punk/metal/hard rock, head to literally any band at the underworld in Camden
