We really have great rookies this year. This could be one of the best draft classes in the last decade.

22
Anti_Thon[OKC] Russell Westbrook•

what's even crazier is that we said this last year

13
junkit33•

I still think last year's crop was better than this year, especially if you're including Simmons in it.

thisisnotjonah[TOR] Andrea Bargnani•

You wouldn’t count Simmons because even though it was his rookie year, he’s still not a part of the draft class

5
junkit33•

Well it depends on whether you're talking about draft class or rookie class. The poster a couple of parents up used both terms in his statement.

Even without Simmons I still like last year's draft class better.

We're at six straight weeks now, I give it about one more month until we start declaring Ayton the runaway ROY. We'd already be calling him that if he was on the mavs and doncic was on the suns.

He's going to be a huge problem once they get a good quality PG.

evrennSuns•

Why are you getting downvoted lol?

6
junkit33•

Because r/nba thinks Doncic is better than Lebron James.

11
Spookie_SenpaiKings•

Yeah whenever I visit r/nba I'm like damn, Luka is THAT good? Then I go to the box score and see he went 2/13.

Not saying he isn't good, but it's overblown.

3†
feedme_ima_trollMavericks•

What's his fg% this year? What about 3p%? I'll wait for you.

0
feedme_ima_trollMavericks•

That's what I thought. Downvote my comment without replying because you shamefully realized Luka is shooting a fantastic % from the field and beyond the arc. FYI, Trae is 3rd worst in the league in FG%.

Fact check before making stupid comments next time.

Cause people still think it's too close to call with Ayton and Doncic

9
ET_Tony[PHI] Ben Simmons•

A little over 1/4 of the season has been played lol. If Doncic or Ayton has a good 5 game stretch it can still change the rankings. Shit even a minor or major Injury can make anybody drop out of the race.

10
Ice_EffectHawks•

Lol, take a good guess

2
TailsofthesixSuns•

If Ayton was on the mavs, or the Kings, he will be averaging 20+ ppg. It's crazy how dud can score, when there is literally no quality PG, and his coach doesn't run plays for him. Dude is like KD where you don't realise he has scored so many points, until you look at the boxscore

Needs more minutes for sure.

It is sad having seen him slowly climb this list to now be off.

Wow i wouldve thought Doncic was the clear frontrunner

Narrative

feedme_ima_trollMavericks•

Hes the best player on the team and they're currently 7th place in the tougher conference. No contest right now, its Doncic.

2
[deleted]•

Well it’s definitely a contest, you’re wrong about that.

And it’s an individual award idc about team stats

1
feedme_ima_trollMavericks•

Luka is both individually and from a team standpoint all around better.

I'll let you in on a secret: Ayton's avg FG% through the first 3 quarters is around 57%. In Q4 it jumps to 77%.

Phoenix averages a 9 point deficit through 3 quarters. What does this mean? Aytons stats are HEAVILY inflated right now. So not only do Lukas stats look better, hes doing it against the other teams best defenders in crunch time. Let that sink in.

If anyone wants to still ride the Luka hate train and be ignorant after knowing this, they probably just need to watch a new sport.

Ive got both JJJ and Luka over Ayton. Its somehow irrelevent that the suns are dogshit with 2 ''outstanding young players" a few vets, one of which was key to Houstons success last year and a few quality young pieces like Mikal Bridges. Nevertheless Phoenix has only won a couple of close games, and in others they are routinely getting blown out by 20. I was never on the Booker hype train as well. It feels like every game he comes out scores his 25 points, takes the L, and then gets hyped up by people on this subreddit that only watch his highlights on youtube and praise his inflated numbers. On the other hand Doncic single-handedly keeps the mavs around 0.500 and makes them a fun team to watch even with his not so perfect stats. Then there is JJJ who is a key factor in the Grizzlies success this season. His numbers are a bit lower, sure but u can see he gives his all on the field. Just look at last years top rookies. Tatum, Mitchel, Simmons. Tatum led the injured celtics to the conference finals. Simmons, together with Embiid(also his first healthy season) turned a abysmal Sixers team into a 50 win team. And Donovan was a spark that made the Jazz a 4th seed in a stacked west. I think that its unacceptable for a ROTY with a Max player on his team to be on a pace to fewer than 20 wins. My 22 cents.

What does booker have to do with anything? He’s not a rookie.

This does not mean average Game Score is the best way to measure the value of rookies. While most of the RotY who escaped injury became good or great players, a few did not. And many of today's best players were not RotY.

1
sspianist6•

The reason he's doing this is because in the past few years the rookies with highest average game score won roty
